    Yeah. You fly in there and you won't need a car, either.

    Not many options for flying from Chicago to Santa Barbara now are there? What time will the workshop go till on Sunday? It looks like most flights leave in the early afternoon, like 3PM or earlier, to go back home on Sunday.

    The Workshop will go until 5 or 6.

    Santa Barbara airport is 2.8 miles from your hotel.
    LAX is 108 miles, in LA traffic. That's 3 hours at least on a friday to get there. Probably 2.5 hours to get back to LAX on sunday.

    LAX = car rental

    SB = no car rental

    :D

    EDIT: You should talk to Pathfinder about these options. He's been through them, as well, and HE has a plan! :D

    Shuttle from LAX
    There is a shuttle that goes from LAX to Santa Barbara several times a day.
    I think it's called Santa Barbara Airporter.

    For anyone looking to extend their stay and enjoy Santa Barbara and its environs, here's some good info, including a calendar of events. thumb.gif Also, under "What To Do" you'll find a link to a PDF 101 Free Things to Do on the American Riviera. :D

    There should be cheap flights from United. United flys SB to Denver direct as well as San Jose , LAX, and SFO. I just got a flight for my wife from SB to Chicgo (O'Hare) for $360 round trip sometime in april.

    For the hikers in the group take a look at this site
    http://www.santabarbarahikes.com/index.shtml

    There are a few urban forest hikes fairly close to Marc's office that I hike on my lunch hour. Unfortunately there was a large fire over the summer in the national forest behind SB and so a lot of that area is closed (about 45mins from Marc's office).

    David,

    I am afraid to admit that I do not arrive in SB until 7:27 Friday evening - It was that or bounce two or more times, so save me a seat at the table, or I'll get a bite on my own.

    I'm here at Muench Central, in beautiful Goleta, CA! clap.gif

    We're getting set up for all the folks who are coming for this workshop. Just a heads up.

    I'll be posting pictures tomorrow or Sunday, maybe even tonight of the activities.

    In the meantime, here's an old one, of Marc tending to some of his most important duties! :D

    I'm sitting here in the studio listening to Marc present.

    The material covered so far has been great and we're only on the first day.

    Thanks, Scott!

    I took some shots of the workshop, and I was going to work them up and post them, but 2 things happened. I got to spend some nice time with my daughter, and I sliced my hand open. Ugh. I can barely type. But I'll live.

    I had a blast with everyone. We learned a ton, and had a ton of fun shooting, eating, drinking, and laughing hard.

    I was seriously blown away by so much of the work I saw coming out of the printer. clap.gif

    Please tell the folks that you did not cut your hand at the workshop!!

    You departed this afternoon in good working order!!

    Were you cutting up some veggies for a vegan meal perhaps??

    Sorry to hear abut your misfortune.

    It was a great time as I expected. Marc and David were great hosts with good food, informative tips, and kept everyone laughing and in a good mood. Even though I think I know everything Marc and Tom proved me wrong. I learned some new things and am going home with some beautiful prints. Now if I could only afford a custom frame and museum glass:cry . It was great to see some old friends and make some new ones. I'm already looking forward to my next Dgrin/Smugmug/Muench meet-up.

    David, while you were at home slicing up your hand this is what the sunset looked like. Hope your hand feels better soon. See you guys in Moab.

    Made it home safely. Albeit a little cold :D

    What a good experience this was. I learned a lot and since I taught Nick
    everything he knows... lol3.gif Only kidding.

    Personally, I'd like to thank Marc and Tom for all that they shared over the
    two days and to David for coordinating the whole thing.
