Asia-How I Spent My Summer-Part 2
How I spent my summer: Or why would anyone want to tour Southeast Asia in the Summer? Part 2 The 3rd country we visited was Malaysia. We avoided the Malacca Straights by docking on the east coast, at Kuantan, and taking a bus 240K to Kuala Lumpur. We arrived late in KL, so after checking in to our hotel we headed for the… -
Li River
The Li River area between Guilin and Yangshuo in Southern China is absolutely beautiful. Limestone karst formations reach out from the jungle-like growth at the sides of the river up to the sky. This is a favorite vacation location for both Chinese and Western tourists. There are basically two ways to cruise the Li River,… -
Re: Two new photo book printing places...
Books arrived! Just a follow up on the two photo books I created and received from WinkFlash and Blurb. Both books were created in Photoshop CS2. Each page was then saved as a .jpg file and uploaded. The WinkFlash book was created in sRGB as requested. The Blurb book was created in CMYK (not as requested :D ) I've worked… -

Re: Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics
Something not quite right. I have the 120-300 and I discovered right off the bat Sigma could do itself a favor and expand the instruction pamphlet that comes with the lens. 1. Straight out of the box, the AF was non-existent. I had to twist the focus ring back and forth several times to loosen it up. It wasn't until after… -
Re: MyCanvas books and collages
Thanks, BUT I want to thank the support people at MYCanvas for the help that they provided when I was ordering my calendars. I had an issue regarding the shipping that was showing up on my order, and the MyCanvas support people found a workaround for me. They were punctual in replying, and helpful. Unfortunately, I have… -
Re: Sigma 120-300mm 2.8 or Sigma 300mm 2.8 which one to buy?
Of the two lenses you're considering, the 120-300 is the better lens. It is actually sharper than sigma's 300mm prime. AND IT'S A ZOOM. I've had this lens for several years. It's my primary field sport lens and has made me a good amount of money. It's a superb lens. The only lens better in that focal length is the Canon… -
Re: Oly Lens Question by Email
It's not easy to say something about the 18-180, since it's very new and hard to get by in some areas. The specs (which -including the internal build- looks remarkable like the Sigma 18-200) indicate it might be a dual headed beast: the plus - 36-360 FOV will give you a nice reach - it's not too heavy and large - it would… -
Re: took with new lens 70-200?
O.K. John johng Well I'll have to start by thanking you, Thank You. I shot an indoor Gymnastics meet today, I started out in ApPriority then switched over to manual. Other than rolling my shutter dial a click here or there I did little else, and ended up with some of my best results to date. Your tip from a few posts ago… -
Re: 24-70L arrived
Definitely just a test and basically a grab shot, but glad you liked it! Since this has been re-bumped, just to mention that Qarik was absolutely right - out shooting with it today it didn't really seem that heavy at all (particularly with my nice, weight-distributing Optech strap), so I think it's just a case of getting…
