Help with dSLR Selection
Once upon a time I shot film SLRs and even did quite a bit of dark room work. I largely left photography but have been using compact digital cameras for a few years and think I'd like to get more serious again. I'm intrigued by the Olympus e620. I'd probably start with the two lens kit with a FL36R flash. At some point I'd… -

Goodbye Mac, Hello HP Elitebook 8770w
As both speed & mobility are key for my work, I've relied on hopped up MacBook Pros for years. Have had a Mac since 1986 and always loved putting whatever high end parts in them as needed. Was an Apple Specialist - mainly built crazy towers for movie editing. Would have never considered anything else. Now, as it's upgrade… -

Re: Film Scan Resolutions?
Keep in mind that your scan is really measured in pixels. DPI is only used to tell you how large the photo will display in a print or on the screen. He was carrying a flag that said Verterans For Peace as were about a dozen other older guys who all appeared to be veterans and… -

Re: Help Baldy shoot for a 72x240-inch print
When you say " f/2.8 at f/8" do you mean at 1/8 second? How long did it take to shoot all 109 shots? Did you use mirror lockup? It looks like you got lucky with the focus. :-) About how far away were you from the cathedral? The online DoF calculator at www.dofmaster.com says: Subject distance 500 ft Depth of field Near… -
LPS#7 Feedback Thread
This came in a PM today from urbanaries* In Hindsight. #63 Xia_Ke. The first time I looked at this image, I clutched my mouth. I have looked at it several times now and it haunts me more each time, brings me to tears. In fact I’m crying openly about it now as I write about it. I feel so much pain in this image, I find it…
