Re: A few questions from a beginner
If you are on manual and you set your aperture to as high as it will go (maybe like f/22?) and keep your shutter speed the same, you are allowing a lot less light in, hence the black picture. When you're on manual, you really need to pay attention to your exposure meter. That is the little bar on the bottom of your view… -
Re: What's happend to Smugmug...it won't load!!
Traceroute - no response from Smugmug.com Here's my traceroute, right now things stopped to work again. Identical for smugmug.com as well as for markusbrosch.smugmug.com. traceroute to http://www.smugmug.com (208.79.45.23), 64 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 ... 15 all fine, then the craziness starts (load balancing route ?)… -
Re: A Trip Too Small: Fiji, New Zealand, and Some More
Thanks everyone for the comments and letting me know there’s someone out there willing to actually read all this! So now I’m going to start a post that I really didn’t think i’d be writing at the beginning of this trip report. We decided, way back in Alaska, that Myanmar is still dangerous and just not a good idea to… -
Re: Wedding shooting tricks?
Thanks Sam and Nago. Couple of more things I've been thinking about...indirect lighting. On camera flash...bounce it. Even if the ceilings are 12 feet high...set your camera to 800 ISO and see what happens...it's all about adding light, not drowning in light...nothing looks worse than pictures where there's a second shadow… -

Re: Pricing is my nightmare. Please critique!
I probably won't be much help here as my pricing structure seems pretty left of field and a bit out there for most shooters. I haven't had packages in about 15 years now. Haven't had a price list either. All my work is quoted for the individual job. I gave up on packages because it semed no matter what variations I made… -
LPS#8 feedback thread
This was an interesting round, I think it broke a record for me in the most number of photos selected on my first pass through the gallery! My first pass yielded 35 photos that caught my attention for one reason or another. That list is as follows: Post# - Photog - Title 2 - PaulThomasMcKee - BIG BANG REDUX 3 - DRabbit -… -

The gold in the bg is just cherry. On top of that the horizon fades nicely in the back and gives it a… -
Welcome home Alaska - Lets Climb.
So I am finally home back in Alaska. The travelling has ended. Atleast that is what I thought when i stepped off the plane. I got in late and went and saw my friends, after a good night of sleep i was back up visiting them again. Then the real fun started. Less then 24 hours after stepping off the plane I was climbing on… -
Re: Pricing for cd of 200 images?
I am not sure how many that have answered this post actually shoot sports for a living. If you do I am not sure how you can pay the bills selling a 4x6 for $5.00 and electronic files under $5 each. Most of the clients that I sell to that order 4x6's figure they are going to scan the photo to produce the electronic image so…
