Re: *Wedding Shots* C&C Please
scott - that is amazing :) Just another reason for me to invest. Thanks for the info! Dave - Sounds like the pro you got on with really lets you have some freedom. I had looked into becoming a secondary...All the gigs I found were about 10 an hour, you could not keep any pictures from the wedding and basically you were… -
Re: Newbie, on a budget, what to do?!
I think a better lens is a good idea but you have a lot of money to invest! If I were in your shoe's I'd get a D90 with the kit lens. That's an 18-105. I got it for my D5000 and it's become my favorite lens. I'd also go with a 170-500 Sigma. I also have that lens and it does a great job. By doing that you have everything… -

Hi Everyone - I launched this auction on eBay before discovering Digital Grin when I was trying to track down Andy W. As a special offer to members of this forum, I'll end the auction early (eBay still gets the commission) for a bid of $725, rather than my current Buy It Now price of $750. In addition to the mint condition… -

Re: dSLR package
Hi there, Here's my two cents... I was in the same situation 18months ago and bought the Olympus evolt-300 2 lens kit. It was a great camera, really intuitive to use and had the direct access to ISO etc. This model is discontinued and on ebay for about$650-$700 for the 2 lens kit. Not sure on the differences but it has… -
Re: Sigma 50-500mm Bigma (v. 70-300)
hey Bob, ive owned that lens ( a few times actually ), its a nice lens! Give it the light it needs, and it can bring things upclose. I gotta agree with Path ( I'd be a fool to 2nd guess his advice ) a monopod ( which I used ) or a tripod helps with the learning curve associated with these "heavier" longer lenses. Ya know… -
Re: yet still more MX and first time off sports setting.
Congratulations, you're on your way to really learning your camera and how the settings interact with each other. It's little hard to critique without all of the EXIF information. Don't forget you can also adjust your ISO setting, independent of shutter priority for more flexibility. Obviously you are free to go for… -
Re: Any Cross Border Shipping Advice?
Both US and Canada Customs know when you crossed the border in either direction, so you'll have to tell the truth about how long you were there. The amount of time you were in the US will affect how much duty free alcohol, tobacco products and other products you are permitted to bring back. You can go above the limits, but… -
Re: Nikon Lense suggestions
D40 with 24-70? The 24-70 is a great lens but it is in a different class than the D40 and the 2 lenses you mentioned. I mean the body is selling anywhere $200-$400, the lens is $1750 new. If you are willing to look outside Nikon I have 3 options for you, two are FX if you plan on switching some day, one is not. First DX…
