Re: 5d micro
Consider the 90mm Tamron f/2.8 macro Either the present DI (which is supposed to be optimized for digital) or the earlier model non-DI, AF SP lens would be great with either a full frame or 1.6x crop camera. Either Tamron competes very well with the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro (it is better in some ways and not quite as good… -
Re: Amanda - Senior 2012
Thanks for commenting everyone. Ill be sure to reply to your comments as time allows. Charles I really appreciate the kind words. A little about #8, as it was a kind of "redemption shot". She brought the most beautiful prom dress to the shoot. Lots of gals do, but when she put it on it was obvious...even to me....that this… -
Re: Tamron 90mm (Model 172E)
You Have A Great Lens Your lens is the model previous to the present 90mm Tamron Macro. It is the 90mm f/2.8 Tamron SP Macro. The newer model adds the designators DI to that name to signify that it has been optimized for macro shooting! I would not worry about having the older model. If yours is as sharp as mine and there… -
Re: Next Lens - Advice
There are several directions I can recommend, based on the information given. The first recommendation is actually 2 different items: 1) I too have the Canon EF 50mm, f1.4 USM and it has earned a place in both my wedding/event kit and my travel kit. The one thing it lacks is a close focus capability. A close focus diopter… -
Re: 1st Official Engagement Photoshoot
Hi Robert, Firstly, I'd like to say that there is something I immediately appreciate about your images. You're here, asking for critique (#1), and you're doing it with images that aren't great, but at least you don't have a watermark that you look like you spent ages on. I'm always flabbergasted to see folks come here with… -
Re: Brand Jump?
I own Nikon but I shoot for a studio that is all Canon. Over the years, I've shot many weddings with BOTH systems. Quite honestly, as much as I enjoy the Canon bokeh and skin tones, I can't stand the control functions, or lack thereof. One of the main differences that I notice, when shooting my full-time work of weddings… -
Re: Lighting and Large Format Final photos
I am liking the basic feel of the photos, and the processing looks perfect. Sounds like an interesting course. Just so you know where I'm coming from, I was involved with the bicycle industry, from the dealer point of view, for 33 years. So I'll offer some thoughts, and please take these as truly knit picking, as I've… -
Re: Auto Focus Fine Tuning
1) Basic AF accuracy is best accomplished using a flat target, i.e. a brick wall or other large textured surface. If a camera/lens cannot accomplish this task, it has no chance of passing any subsequent AF tests including real world use. Make sure that the target is at the typical distance for your normal use of the lens,… -
Re: Underwhelmed with the D800
With your camera set to one-shot mode and single point center AF: 1) Basic AF accuracy is best accomplished using a flat target, i.e. a brick wall or other large textured surface. If a camera/lens cannot accomplish this task, it has no chance of passing any subsequent AF tests including real world use. Make sure that the… -
Re: Do You Scope Out Locations Before the Wedding Day?
Astrostu, this question has two answers. Firstly, how GOOD are you? If you're charging big bucks for your services, you better be able to walk into ANY situation and rock some amazing images, period. You should never count on gorgeously soft light that makes your job effortless, you should be able to take harsh sunlight…
