Re: Best Metallic examples?
Careful on some photos.... Here is my experience with metallics - I love the look, but you need to be careful on the images to be printed. Now my only experience has been with Adorama metallics, have not ordered any from SM since they started offering them so take what I say with a grain of salt. I ordered a 20x30 B&W… -
Re: Nikon Mount Ultra Wide Angles
Your best bet for ultimate sharpness is the 14-24 of course, but that's even more pricey than the 16-35 f/4. Honestly the 16-35 f/4 is just about it for corner sharpness, if $1K is the ceiling of your budget. The older 17-35 2.8 is great but still around $1K so you're really just exchanging f/4 and VR for f/2.8... One… -
Re: Working a new horse though the jumps - this was amazing. My first attempt...cc's
Thanks Anthony Just so you know no plans on using a flash. Never had much luck with it anyway. This is a new horse to the sport and she didn't like the orange flowers which is why they put them there. She wasn't happy with me being to close I started shooting with the 70-200 and she calmed way down when I switched to the… -
Re: FX Wide Angle Lens - Tokina 11-16 vs. Nikon 17-35?
I can't personally recommend the 14-24 for any close-up, in-your-face type action shooting because of the lack of a front filter thread. To me personally, that's important if I'm going to be bumping around in any sort of action. I think the 17-35 is going to be the best bang for your buck. It may not have the flawless… -
Mini-review: Capture camera clip
Over the time I have tried various camera support systems: straps, harnesses, etc., only to find one or more reasons not to like them. At some point ago I have acquired two copies of Peak Design's Capture camera clips http://peakdesignltd.com/capture/ and was finally able to use them during my last half-a-day Mojave shoot.… -
Greetings From Sin City...PMA 2008
Hello All! I'm lucky enough to be attending this year's premiere photography show, PMA, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Saturday was arrival day and time for a quick tour around the convention center. Of course all the major players are here. Canon, Nikon, General Electric...wait did I just say GE? Yeah, who knew they made cameras?… -

No Images - Opinion
Interesting point of view Here's a list of tips, advice, rules and just things to know about photography from Eric Kim, a street photographer who also holds photography workshop classes. Here's the full list: 1. Just because someone has an expensive camera doesn't mean that they're a good photographer. 2. Always shoot in… -
Re: Love of post processing
Hi Rutt! Cool post! It's amazing to take a look at how similar, and yet how different, we are. :D Professionally, I have more or less the same background as you: professional coder, been through grad school... only I got my masters degree this year, instead of 30 years ago or more. But more or less the same work background… -
Re: The "R" Family Session
Hi Julie, The composition could use some work and the lighting is kind of dull. See the distance between the subjects heads and the top of the photo in a couple of them. The rule of thirds really does add drama to the photos. Work on getting some pop in the lighting and color. A levels and contrast adjustment will get you…
