Re: Yet another Xmas Cards question
Nikolai, Sounds like it all worked out. I too just went through a similar struggle tying to determine what to charge a customer. Earlier I posted some info about the job. He has a gun collection and I photographed 43 guns. He wanted two 8X10 photos, one left, and one right, of each gun along with a CD of the processed… -
Re: Returned the D70
Answer from a Nikonian I agree with Andy on the fact that Canon is supposed to give better results at the higher ISO's. Also, nobody here or anywhere else can tell you whether you are right or wrong on this point as it is totally subjective. To my eye, your photos at screen res look pretty good. My reaction is that you may… -
Re: Recommendations for trip to NYC
The 50 would be good for low light. Like was mentioned, you have to go, (it's in the rules) to B&H Photo. Man I love that place! If you decide on the Empire State Building, don't waste the money on the 102nd floor, the 86 is better IMHO. There are some great shots to be had there! I would also shoot some of the bridges if… -
Re: Backpacking and photography
I have done Philmont twice and one trip was the hardest they offered (+ a side hike over baldy) the other was a nice 86 mile walk. both trips the lightest pack was 42# heaviest was 51#. I took a Minolta weathermatic and a disposable pan camara. Mostly you will be shooting wide angle. It will not be too cold (lows low 50… -
Re: New Laptop ?
I would take the 7200 rpm HardDrive any day. 5400 rpm is pretty slow. Apply the $60 towards a big, external hard drive instead. VAIO S Series 15 appears to come with 2 - USB 3.0 ports. "If" they are powered ports (which is unclear from the Sony specifications, check with Sony) then you could drive (for instance) an… -
Best teeny camera
Hiya, I'm looking for advice on the best small camera to buy. Money isn't so much of an issue but I'd like it to not be any bigger (or maybe fractionally bigger) than my current Canon IXUS 50 (86 x 53 x 21 mm). I am after the ability to take good night and/or flash shots, good anti-shake (as it's mostly going to be shots… -
tic tic tic, slow uploads, tips/tricks?
I'm having slow upload times. Although, maybe I just have a boatload of photo's and it just takes this long. I'll do a line quality test once these ever finish uploading. I've been uploading about 1.0 or so gigs? I'm not really sure though. (roughly 300 photo's ranging from 2.4 to 5.5MB each) I have had 4 seperate folders… -
Cindy (boudoir)
Had a blast with her - a "plain" young woman in some eyes and we loved playing up her features to show just how beautiful she is. Our beauty team did a great job of getting her prepped! Finished product is a gift to her boyfriend - 6x6 image box (custom cover) with mounted prints inside. Plus a 16x24 wall print. Here are a… -
#86 attempts
I was at a fall festival today and these two guys really stood out to me, especially the biker. Now, I am one of those that can never get up the nerve to ask to take someone's picture. For the first guy ! managed to stop and take pictures of every motorcycle there, working my way up to him and got out the words "do you… -
Re: Need GPS/GeoTagging advice
I've been looking at these as well. THe one I have found that I will probably get is called the GlobalSat DG-100 for $86! Features SiRF StarIII chipset 20 channels. Allowing user to store up to 60000 points. Two NiMh batteries for more than 20 hours continuous operation. USB interface. Power On/Off button for easy use.…
