Re: Canon 50mm f/1.2L
It's correct, although somewhat inaccurate due to rounding errors. If we assume that there is a true half stop between the indicated aperture settings, opening up half a stop from f/1.4 to f/1.2 actually lets about 41% more light in, or put another way, we now have 141% of the light we originally had. Opening up another… -

Re: Washington DC at night - where's best?
The Hirshorn Sculpture Museum's Sculpture Garden is open until dusk (http://hirshhorn.si.edu/info/page.asp?key=207&subkey=141#1). It has been pretty cool to just admire before I was traveling with camera. Might be worth a look. I am not sure what is in the garden snow. The Mall and War Mermorials have lots of cool stuff. -

The 580exII Guide # 190 is ~ 1 stop brighter than the 430exII Guide # 141 Be aware - the 430exII is not… -

One of the approaches is to start with something roughly symmetrical and then use photo editor to complete the work, but in a way that no clue would give you away! Your entry should… -
Re: More strobe questions?
Okay, so more output.... I am looking at a 4 light set, admittedly low power. But if my thinking is right... The power pack has a guide number of 270. If I use all 4 lights on symmetrical setting then the GN should be 270/4=67.5. Compare that to the GN of 141 (max Gn I think). So a more direct comparison would be… -
Sigma vs. Canon flash for XTi
I am in the process of shopping for a flash module for my XTi. I have it narrowed down to about 3 choices: (1) Sigma Electronic Flash EF 530 DG Super (about $260 on amazon) http://www.sigmaphoto.com/flashes/flashes_flashes_details.asp?id=3263&navigator=1 (2) Canon Speedlite 430EX II (about $240 on amazon)… -
