Re: High end P&S? G9 or ??
I do not ytasvel as much as I would like by MC but that was one reason I got the rig I have now.....I looked at al sorts of packs and even getting into another p/s(I sold my KM A2 when I went DLSR...and I miss it greatly as it shot raw and was a fantastic 8MP)....so since I wanted to carry the Dslr's on the bike and I… -
Re: Looking for a good Macro Lens for D90
Just because a lens states it is macro does not mean it is true macro and nikon is squirrely for calling their macro lenses Micro, which is something totlally different....any way not trying to confuse you..but A lot of "macro: lenses are only really very close up lenses and do not reproduce a 1 to 1 (1:1) image (true… -
Re: Is There Anyone Here...
Ron, When I had the A700, I (finally) settled on the 16-85 Zeiss, Minolta 70-210 f/4, and Sigma 30mm f/1.4. (I also had the Tamron 70-200 f/2.8, which I loved but sold because I didn't use it enough). When I got the D7000 I started with the 18-105, and then the 18-200. I didn't like either. I'm just starting to get my kit… -

I reported the missing random play feature for the gallery-slideshow here... Still no change on that. After i got some feedback from friends i tried to create a workaround for that missing feature. Re: Shooting live music with non-metering MF lenses?
Club or concert and what genre of music.....makes a difference at least it did to me for my style of shooting......... As Ziggy 53 stated shoot raw......depending on the lighting you may need to compensate for backlighting......some recent concerts I attended (but did not shoot any pics at) were heavily back… -
Re: No images, just holiday musing
Got my first film camera as a teenager (Pentax ME Super) because I wanted to shoot my friends at the horseshows I attended. Enjoyed it, but never really learned the technical basics, and just relied on aperture-priority. Had the 50mm it came with and a Tokina 70-210. The entire kit was stolen in a burglary when I was a… -
Kayaking the Great Bear Rainforest in British Columbia
This is a bit of an experiment, and my first time posting in Journeys, so forgive me if it all messes up! My wife and I love kayaking, and have made a number of trips on the west coast of British Columbia. In the summer of 2018, we travelled with Kingfisher Wilderness Adventures into the Great Bear Rainforest on the… -

When I first tried to get started in the photo field...I first checked the local U's of which there were 3 and no one had a photo class with in the Fine Arts Dept's only in the journalism clurse and it was upper level (jr/sr level) so I opted for the hard way....the local library and just winging it...then I reado f the… -
Re: IR Cameras
For the sake of completeness, not all lenses that fit a particular dSLR are good for IR applications. Many lenses produce a "hot spot" and some camera/lens combinations exacerbate the problem. For Canon EOS cameras I created a list, gleaned from information out on the Internet. I have not tested all of these myself. The… -
Re: Glass question to all you wedding pros
We all shoot a bit differently.....I shot weddings for years and years and years and years with only a close focusing Sigma 70-210 f2.8 (in the begin it was a f2.8-4), there are shots I wanted to get that I needed the close focusing ability (ring shots, cake toppers...small decorations) and since I started out in film I…
