Mini-Challenge #355 - Beat the Heat (or Keeping your Cool in a Summer Heatwave)
I'm sure some of you folks are in some more comfortable areas, but here in Central Texas we are stuck under a sweltering heat dome that just won't go away. Our air temperatures have hovered around 100, but our heat index has us between 115-120. Folks, that is just too hot. So, of course all I can think about is ways to… -
Re: Need some tech guidance and pro mentoring
Resolution - Size - Distance I'm not sure if I really understand your question, but here's a stab at it: There are three factors to consider here: resolution, size, and viewing distance. The resolution of your final edited images will determine the maximum DPI they can be printed at (the same image will have a much higher… -
Re: Miss - please come with me...
Thanks... For the past 18 years, the Republic of Texas motorcycle rally has been held in Austin. I've never been to it in all those years so I decided to attend the parade Friday night. They ride in from the fairgrounds, up and down Congress Ave (by the Capital), park in the street and then all head to 6th Street afterward… -
Re: Is a $1000 monitor really worth it
My comments in blue above. I retained the key points from your original copy and paste. Re 6bit + AFRC Typically people want a monitor with a true 8bit or pseudo 10bit panel to minimize banding. I read a lot of monitor reviews and have not seen much at all re banding with the current generation of 6bit + AFRC e-IPS… -

There is a link to the OWC Value SuperSlim enclosure is on the same page and it's $49.99. They have… -

Re: Upcoming change that will affect stats
Baldy, I am one of the hundreds and not one of the millions and am also in the minority since I loved my undergrad and graduate statistic classes. My first question would be, why would Smugmug “invest over a million dollars a year collecting, storing and displaying stats” if it is only being viewed by 1,000 people like me?… -
