Re: Studio lighting (kit)?
Nik and all, this has been a great thread as I consider all the same things Nik did a little more than a year later. So Nik, would you have done anything differently now that you are set up? How do you feel now on the mono versus pack issue (I'm considering mixing actually)? I'm pretty sold on the Profoto as a brand with… -
Re: Video Frame To Print Question
Like everything else, it all comes down to compression. There is nothing particularly special about 4K in terms of recording it. It's all just 1's and 0's to the computer or recording device. The compression rate is what really matters. For VERY good quality, you could expect something in the range of 1TB per hour. But… -
SOLD: US-75-300mk3 USM plus extras
For sale is my Canon EF 75-300mm F4-5.6 MK III USM Zoom Lens. I am selling this lens because I recently upgraded to a different lens and have no use for it any more. The lens itself is like new and very minty. The lens was bought new from B&H just last January. I will also include the Canon ET-60 Lens Hood for this lens as… -
Question for the lighting guru's
Hi. I had done some research for studio lighting a while back, and had decided to go with fluorescent lights for a small studio in the future (building will become available in a month or 2). This is what I bought so far. http://www.lincoinc168.com/br44dicoflli.html & http://www.lincoinc168.com/prbalikit.html Is there… -
Re: Small Wyoming wildlife
Thanks for your comments Steve, and the concern about the brightness of the antelope shots. I clocked the whites in them and the tail in the first shot reads about 254,254,254 so I am near the edge, but the rest of the highlights on the goats only read 220, 218, 230 or so, so I thought they might get a bye. But I agree… -
Re: Lens Recommendations for Nikon D50
i would recommend a D70 kit lens (18-70) depends where you get it at, but b/w 220 (ebay) to 300 (b&h) I would also highly recommend a nikon 50mm 1.8 they are 104.00 at B&h. You can not go wrong with a prime lens like that. SO SO SO SO sharp and so fast. At the start i would stay away from "all in one lenses with high… -
Re: Solar Charger
http://www.international-electrical-supplies.com/cuba-plug-adapters.html http://electricaloutlet.org/ You might consider taking a conventional US outlet and a plastic outlet box with you and have someone build you a "pigtail" adapter once you get there. Be sure to mark the outlet so the electrician knows how to wire the… -
Re: What camera bag do you guys use?
I have been through a few bags with ok straps but I always found they were the first to go. So I did some digging and found the kata bags http://www.kata-bags.com/videoLobby.asp specifically this one with 2 layers of straps and a crazy tensioning system http://www.kata-bags.com/Item.asp?pid=220&cid=28&perentId=4&ProdLine=4… -
Re: Head on a swivel, West coast Lacrosse
I've yet to figure that out. I shot 2-1/2 scrimmages last weekend (ten 15-minute quarters) and came away with 220 images. I know that your number may be more par for the course for frequent sports shooters, but I just can't find that much to shoot. Do you do a lot of sideline shots, player/coach headshots, etc? I'm taking… -
Re: First tripod & Head - Recomendations and comments?
New Tripod I was in the same situation a few weeks ago. I needed a better tripod and had a limited budget. I bought the Manfrotto 486RC2 that everyone else has mentioned. I put it on a Manfrotto 190XPROB. Between the head and tripod, I paid about $220 at a local shop. I'm sitting here looking at the instruction manual for…
