Re: When good CF cards go bad..
Well, it's either the CF card or the reader, and it's probably not the reader since it works with everything else. I have a card that works in camera but I cannot see it with my computer. I believe something is wrong with the drive letter assignment, so I don't bother to use it unless it's an emergency. The card is good… -
Re: Michelle - Various Looks
Absolutely agree on that - which is why we have both "glamour" and "fashion" photography often using similar models (and styling) to achieve different effects through different approaches taken by the photographers! Coupla questions, John: 1. Purpose of shoot? 2. If for her portfolio, what market is she aiming for… -

New Camera Advice, Time to Settle Down
Hi all, I've finally decided to buy a new camera. I have been thinking about it for about a year. Ever since my old camera got destroyed floating down a river in Lao, I've been a bit of a camera slut, and borrowing everyone else’s. Its time for me to settle down again :lust I'm an enthusiastic amateur. I usually take… -
Panorama View from Quernmore, over Morecambe Bay to the Isle of Man
Prepare to see some amazing detail at subjects miles and miles from the camera! (The gas rigs are I believe 10 miles out to sea!) Had a ride up into the hills tonight with a camera club friend and tried to get some landscape shots and in the main, failed miserably because the sun buggered off. The only thing that was… -
Re: working with 70-200 IS
Janis, As to the lens sharpness, I would take some simple test shots to verify that the lens is not having back-focus issues, or IS issues. (which I doubt) Also, are you shooting in the "One Shot" mode, or "AI Servo"? AI Servo is not a good mode to shoot for static subjects. It's expecting something to be moving, so it… -

Re: GoPro: - HERO7 Black
Pretty sure that other WiFi connected action cameras will require similar access privileges to support the services of the phone, services that you desire for FPV display and GPS location data. I suggest purchasing a second smart phone specifically for your drone application. Since it doesn't have to do any other services… -
Re: Promenade 1 & 2
##6 & 7 are looking east, over the mouth of the Derwent River as it enters D'Entrecasteau Channel. #6 looks down the channel, and on the right you can see a small lighthouse, called Blinky Bill. I am trying to find out a little of its history, and I'll post that later. You will also see some gun emplacements. My guess is… -
Re: EOS 20D w/ EF-S 17-85 IS USM
the lack of overlap is not an issue at all. As to which lens gets the most use...that has varied over time. When I bought my first Canon mount dslr, I had a 28-105 consumer lens so I bought the 100-400L. Then I sold off all my consumer glass (including the 28-105) and bought the 17-35L. Those 2 lenses were all I carried…
