Re: Magnet Tripod Mount?
In practice a vacuum cup mount gives much more versatility than a magnetic mount. A magnet relies on a smooth, flat, ferrous material in order to work properly. A suction device will adhere to slight curves and all common smooth surfaces including steel, fiberglass and glass. A 6" suction cup can have around 280 lbs. of… -
Re: Greetings, ramblings and questions
Awesome! Someone who understands. :D Thare's a 28 2.8 for about R1777 (about $226). I can probably do it but man oh man my reserves are getting low. Looks to be popular but it also seems to have some bad chromatic 'abhoration' - can't be worse than my current kit lens. Still, the 28mm 2.8 is cheap and would be about a 44mm… -
Re: AlbumFetcher - Download multiple galleries w/ embedded captions and keywords
At first I must say a big thank you for this nice tool! It helped me a lot downloading local fotos I lost during a HD crash from SmugMug. For some fotos I get an exception and the prog crashed as mentioned in a post before. So I took a look at the sources (thx for sharing this with the community) and hopefully found the… -

Re: Moving to the 5DmkII - help me with lens choice
So I went through my LR3 catalog and did some metadata searching. In 2011 and 2012, I took 11,600 photos with the 50D. Of those 10% were with the 10-22, 52% with the 17-55 and 38% with the 70-200. The last one surprised me actually. Seems my favorite focal lengths from that more detailed breakdown are 10mm, 17mm, 28mm,… -
company party shots
These are some shots from my company holiday party held at the Fairmont in San Jose this last weekend. I brought an umbrella setup for fun as well. I think they turned out smashingly but I sooo wish I had brought some gels. The tungsten lighting was very very orange and I had difficult time blancing my flash. So many of my… -
Re: Color on 7D Images
You are very welcome. It's a pleasure to be able to give back and help someone who is a major contributor around here. LR and post processing will fall into place. Learn how to use the camera. I don't know what you are upgrading from but I found that from the 20d, it was a significant learning curve and it ain't over, yet.… -
