Re: Get a Sneak Peek at SmugMug's new design!
I did see that news. And frankly, I could not figure out the benefit. If you have the unlimited Squarespace account, you can post all the photos you like directly to Squarespace, using some of their nice photogallery templates. Therefore, really no need for Smugmug. Otherwise, this link appears to be yet another benefit… -
Re: upload timeout - tracert included
Thanks, Andy. ARGH! What gives it away as a RR prob? From my Cingular broadband card, I get this. Is this healthy?C:\Documents and Settings\nimai.malle>tracert upload.smugmug.comTracing route to hermes.smugmug.com [63.81.134.24]over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 139 ms 149 ms 160 ms 172.26.248.2 2 139 ms 159 ms 150 ms… -
Re: Frequently Requested Simple Modifications / Tweaks
I was wrong again and don't know how to fix this now. I removed the breadcrumb from the gallery (page) level because it was showing one level up as well as the gallery level. I replaced it with a Title block. But that title is just what I type in as the name. This means "Title A" shows up as the title of every gallery on… -
Re: Do I need an SSD drive for PP?
Even without TRIM, there is usually some sort of "garbage collection" system working that will keep the SSD from slowing down, don't worry about that issue too much. OP - Personally, I feel the SSD is a good option if you don't mind spending the money. I have a RAID0 192 SSD Samsung drive setup in my laptop that I do my… -
HTTP PUT uploads don't seem to work
I'm trying to get HTTP PUT to work using python httplib. I made sure all of the headers were set and properly spelled (including case). I simply get a "Broken pipe" error message from the server. Are there any examples of using httplib in python to upload via PUT? is HTTP PUT still a valid upload method? <pre> 173 data =… -
Re: smugmug subscription prices to rise
Hi All, Ok well this was my first photo hosting site and have been happy with it. I went straight onto the pro account as liked the features, but as i live in Australia and i think it cost me around the $125 mark when i joined a few months ago i could justify this cost although i dont upload large files i always downsize… -
Really Right Stuff PCL-1 and Omni Pivot Pano Package
Hi all- I wanted some feedback from those of you that use RRS PCL-1 panning clamp and omni pivot package for panos. I just got the packages and have been trying them out. I mounted the PCL-1 panning clamp, fixed the MPR 192 nodal slide on it and leveled the clamp. I notice that with my D700 camera on the slide (with the… -
A Really Long Haul(er)
This hauler was specially designed and built for Southern California Edison to transport used, slightly radio active, nuclear generator parts from San Onofre CA to Clive Utah, about 823 miles, for proper disposal. It's about 400 feet long, weighs about 380 tones, has 192 tires on 48 axles, and can negotiate 90 degree turns… -

Studio strobes: spare flash tubes?
I'm new to studio strobes, just used some for the first time earlier this month. I'm about to order some Flashpoint 620 studio strobes and am trying to decide whether I need to order a spare flash tube ($40, gulp) along with them, so I don't get stuck with a burned-out or broken tube at an inconvenient time (with the…
