Re: How to pick your own wedding photographer?
One thing to note is that a lot of any single wedding is not neccessarily a bad thing. I'm fully compitent, capable, have plenty of experience, (and and pretty good, if I do say so myself... haha) etc... yet my 50-slide portfolio probably contains less than 20 weddings. And the majority of the images come from my most… -
Re: Tabitha
I learn so much from being here it's my favorite place to be online among all you great folks.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> I have an idea on how to "fix" the eyes on number four since I love the light so much. It involves cloning but I'm not sure I can… -
Re: Quantaray Clear UV Protector = bad photos!
I don't doubt that the filter you got has flaws (and that you should exchange it), but they may or may not be the cause of the flares in an image. Specks of dirt and other flaws in/on the lens will show up but the degree which they affect the image varies. Small, nonreflective objects in/on the lens are so far away from… -
Re: Photography or Photoshop? What to learn?
Woody,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> "which makes me ask the question, photography or photoshop?"<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> The answer is yes!<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> While there are many good responses here, I think Nikolai has summed it up best, so I have… -
Re: Recovering from Failure
I was contracted for two private schools. I was connected to the schools because I worked a day job in Development at one of them and when I got laid off, they wanted to use me as a contractor for school pix - I had done their marketing photos during my time there. One school (School A) had 300 kids, the other (School B)… -
Re: Zion National Park Too
Bear, it is all in your mind and you just have to set post-op goals and fight to meet them. When I talked with my surgeon pre-op, I told him that I wanted the knee with the most flex (they normally reserve them for the younger more active people under 60). He knows that I am a photographer and I told him that I wanted to… -
Re: Winter Photography
Cornflake... Thank you for your question. The ability to see the aurora is really dependent on four key factors... Time of year. Fall equinox through spring equinox is the optimal "window." The Kp level. The level of geomagnetic activity in the atmosphere at the time you are viewing. The Kp level, is a number from 0 to 9,… -
Re: I need something sharper!
You and me both. I'm going to quote him verbatum so there is no confusion. First thing is going to be his technique then to the settings. And I quote: "Open the photo you want to sharpen using Lab Sharpening. Go to the channels palette and yuou can see that your RGB photo is made up of three channels-a Red, a Green, and a… -
Re: To Drobo or not to Drobo
Satisfied customer I've had a Drobo v2 (the one with USB2 and FW800) for a year now and absolutely love it. I think it's probably a great backup solution, although I use mine for fault-tolerant primary storage. If you like Apple products, you'd probably be quite pleased with a Drobo. In my experience, it "just works", as… -
Re: Week in St. Croix
Weds - Feb 5 We have gone into Christensted enough now, so that we can recite all the landmarks. This intersection is the one that looks like we turn right but we go straight. This one is the one that if we go straight we will be out in the boondocks. Here is where they are digging the big hole. Here is the metal plate in…
