Re: Sigma 50-500mm?
Somewhat hard to compare As others have commented, the Bigma is a rare system that covers its 10X range quite nicely for its price IF the user employs good long lens techniques. Like most any lens system, a prime, with its tuned fixed elements will most always afford the best image quality over any zoom that has… -
Re: School asked me to do ALL team & posed sport pics
I Know EXACTLY How You Feel! What started out as an effort to take pictures of my three daughters at their cheer competitions has evolved into a small side business. Since I don't yet have the DSLR and lens I really want, I was humbled people thought enough of what I could get with my prosumer to pay. With the gym… -
Re: TWiP Episode really got me thinking
I'd think the m4/3rds might be just about right for you. The bodies are smaller, and so are the lenses. (The APS-C sensor compacts have smaller bodies, but the lenses will still be fairly large.) A m4/3rds + Panasonic 14-150mm seems like just about the perfect thing for video + stills without having to change lenses all… -

Hi, I'm new to the forum...critiques please? Quote: Natalie wrote: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Again, I totally agree. As I have just begun my venture I do not yet have all of the much needed accessories. Currently it is just me, my Digital Rebel *which I'm hoping to upgrade to the 20D*,18-75 lens… -
Re: Saturday Market
Good morning Sam. My private shoot prices have remained the same and are listed on my Services page. I have priced them to what I think I can get out of people in this area who are serious about getting a photo shoot out of me. I have had folks walk away due to the price - no budging here on that. I price a family/personal… -
Re: New Wedding Lens
For $300, I don't think you will find a lens that helps with this particular situation very much. Some people may recommend an ultra-wide like the Tokina 11-16 2.8. (Although that's a $600 lens, but for a moment let's just forget price and talk lens-theory-101 here) Personally however, I'm not a fan of ultra-wides for… -
Re: Camera Clip? This thing is looking pretty cool
Hi Folks, Adam from Peak Design here - this thread was shared with us by one of the forum members and I wanted to chime in to answer some of the questions/comments. First off, we're friends with SmugMug and as of today we have started offering $10 off Capture to all Smuggers Secondly, thank you ZeroDog for sharing Capture.… -
Re: Lens suggestions for Canon t3i
Most of the stuff you said is dead on. The T3i isn't the best body for weddings, sports, or children (compared to a 60D, or even a 50D or 40D). But if you've decided on a T3i, then that'll work. Definitely get the 50mm. I have one and it's GREAT for portraits. It's about the best value in the Canon lineup (the 200mm f2L… -
Re: Can someone help
2mo, since we can't see your shots of a similarly lighted subject, it's hard to know how to advise. However, if you are shooting in auto exposure mode (which most newbies do) I can take a good guess as to what you're getting: over-exposed lights and underexposed baby. If this is the case, here are some suggestions: 1. Put… -
Help in choosing camera and lenses.
I presently use a Nikon N80, SB50DX, 28-105ED (3.4-4.5) and 70-300D (4.5-5.6) combination. For my digital work I use a Canon G2 with a 420EX flash. Both systems are a bit bulky so i am looking for 2 cameras. 1. a small P&S that can fit in my shirt pocket (under 150-200gms) that I can carry almost all the time. 2. a Digital…
