Re: Can't figure out why cheap triggers work better than PW's...
I know.. Sorry, I was exhausted and had a few beers. So.. Yeah, my bad there. Answers: 1. Figured the MM would be just as good at receiving as they are transmitting, plus eventually when I figure out why both ports aren't firing I will not need splitters. Which is why I use the PW3 to transmit (well, I did last night)… -
Re: 5D Mark III - First 24 Hours Review (post yours here!)
Alright, after a decent amount of testing, I have something to put forth for your consideration / discussion: Scenario - 5D mk3 vs 5D mk2, 70-200 L IS mk1 and 24-70 L, One-Shot AF Hypothesis - AF on the 5D mk3 seems to take a split second extra to confirm and lock focus, especially on darker subjects Obviously the 5D mk3… -
Re: Advice Needed - Bird Photography
A Better beamer is very useful as others have said, but if you are using a handheld long tele lens, you may not wish to shoot at sub 1/250 speeds to use flash. For instance, when I am shooting handheld with my Canon 400mm f/5.6 I never use flash unless I am using some sort of support ( tripod, beanbag, railing ) to steady… -
Re: Call of the North
Call of the North (10): Geysir July 20 I decided to do a few "standard" trips. Touristy to the bone, but found it the optimal way to cover as much as possible in the little time available. Mass tourism, much like Spain and Turkey, with pickup at the hotel, transit to a bus, with a big group, travel to the "objectives", a… -
Center Thumbnails in Gallery
Hello, I have used some CSS tricks somebody posted here to move thumbnails below the main photo in the SmugMug layout. For some reason, however, the thumbnails are not centered. I have tried a few things to fix it, with no success. Does anybody have any idea why it aligns to the left? Here is a link to the gallery:… -
Skin tone help needed
I've had a sudden rush of headshot requests (1 this week, 1 next week). These need a lot more attention to skin tones than I usually do, and I don't have a calibrated monitor. Set-up : tripod, fairly good daylight plus one flash and lightsphere, shot on Olympus Raw (WB set to 5500). For each sequence (same camera settings)… -
Photo Cataloging Software – Recommendations?
So I have been using PSE 4.0 for about a year right now and have really enjoyed it. However, I recently discovered (much to my dismay) that adding a caption to a photo resulted in the data being immediately written to the file. Which violates my number one rule of non-destructive edits. My requirements are based off of my… -

Ability to Change Images in an order to suit Crop sizes
I encountered a headache during this photo sales event . People find their images and asemble packages. I cropped everything in LR for 5x7 but offered 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10 products. Only thing is once they place an order, the SMUGMUG hero told me I would only have the image they ordered in which to crop and that would be the… -
Good buy?? Sony DSC R1 cyber-shot
Hi all,I’m looking for a camera to be my next best friend. After much research and internal debate I am 90% fixed on the Sony DSC R1 I am but no means a pro but I did take a six month photography course in my time at university. In this time I gained most of my experience on an old (but awesome) 35mm Minolta SLR with great…
