Re: Photoshop World March 8-10, 2005 Las Vegas
I went with a friend who picked up the hotel tab. I work with him during the year and it was a bit of a bonus for me. He was originally booked at the Mandalay Bay, until I told him he could walk an extra 5-10 minutes and save $50/night. It was $80/night for our room, rooms which were $350 or more this week. :uhoh I told… -
Re: Calibration; is what I see what I'll get?
Dang, I get busy on Sat and look what I come back to. :uhoh One very telling comment here from Andrew: "I do all my own printing." So, I now see where you are coming from with the insistence on converting to the printer profile. You're in a closed-loop system. That's great, but I still disagree with the concept for most… -
Re: Catch-22...going into business or not
At some point all of us will really need a studio of sorts and as I stated earlier I have always bee a less is more kinda person....it is much easier to store 10 colored gels than it is to store 10 muslins (not to mention the money savings)....I have been putting off an outdoor shoot due to the freaking rain here and that… -
Re: Looking for P&S for around $150
My daughter has a Canon 1200IS (which isn't HD recording), it was like $130 at Costco a year ago. It works fine, she uses it....some. She also has an older Flip camera, and frankly prefers that for video, as the software is friendly and she likes editing video (she is 12). Now, my advice: I have learned that my kids have… -
Re: GPS and cameras - a new twist
After being bit by the technology bug a few years ago, I started buying devices that integrate feature from other devices. I learned that spending a premium to get integration is not the way to go. It might be a good GPS but it will never be a great camera. I now buy devices that will work together. ie. interface Garmin… -
Re: New Prime Lens and Possibly a New Camera?
I just picked up the new Canon EOS 40mm f2.8 STM pancake lens... Very sharp, extremely compact, a nearly perfect 60mm "normal" equivalent. It's tiny enough that you could carry it in addition to a wide prime if you wanted. 4.5 oz and less than an inch thick! Silent, fast autofocus as well... This was really just a test… -
Re: Portrait of Dale.
When I say arms length, I'm referring to both arms outstretched. Most flashes are rated at 6ft., like the Nikon SB600, and the Strobie 130's. Most of the newer ones are rated at 7 or 8ft. It is a known fact that by adding a light modifier to a portable flash, you are going to lose 1 to 2 stops of light, depending on the… -

Re: 5d Mk II - getting closer to shipping?
My first impression is very favorable. The images that this camera produces are huge (25-30MB). Now my 4GB cards are worth no more than 130 pictures. The menu and the controls are very fast and responsive. Browsing through 21MP RAW files in camera is super fast. The Viewfinder is also very nice, bright and huge. There are…
