Need GPS/GeoTagging advice
Hey everybody, I've been looking for a GPS device that will let me easily GeoCode my pictures. I've found a couple of devices but I've heard that the SiRFstar III is the chipset to use. Does anyone have suggestions about what they use or what they've seen that works well? The big device I've seen is the Sony GPS-CS1… -
Re: Time for a tripod - advice appreciated
Thanks for the great post Cab! And for not calling me short!! And thanks Matt for mentioning the Induro's. Did some more 'shopping' and found the Induro AT213 which comes in at 4.1 lb and $143. Goes down to 6.7". Maxes at 56.7" without the column. I'm wondering if that is tall enough for my 5'8". I would rather not extend… -
Re: Newbie tutorial?
Video dSLR aperture and ISO choices are similar to still photography, "but" those choices are tempered by a reduced set of choices for shutter speeds, which are also linked to the video frame rate. Start with this thread and link for the shutter speed selections, and how they relate to video frame rates:… -

Re: Best Grand Canyon North Rim Sunrise ?
N. Rim Grand Canyon morning shots You won't go wrong at either Cape Royal, where you get a rare glimpse of the Colorado River, or Point Imperial, the highest viewpoint in the park. Keep in mind that both are out on winding roads that take a while to drive. If you want to be out there at dawn you need to leave in the dark.… -
Re: Slowness? Post your trace routes here!!
CHMOD - 3ms?!?! How in the world do you get that speed? And was the site still slow? Or were you just posting your results? If it was slow at 3ms - surely it's a datapull bottleneck somehow on the serverside... Is that a typo? 3ms?? Mine right now is running enormously sluggish again... Had a customer call and ask when my… -
Re: Manual flash, method to perfection?
The very best way to use manual flash for a portrait session, for instance, is to previously test the flash and flash modifiers, keeping a log and noting the results at different distances from the subject. If you use direct flash, which I rarely recommend, you can calculate flash power at a given distance if you know the… -
SOLD: SONY VCL-HGD0758 58mm 0.7x Wide Lens
I have a genuine SONY VCL-HGD0758 58mm 0.7x Wide Conversion Lens for sale. Its designed to make the view of the Sony F707 & F717 much wider than its normal. However, do not make the mistake that this lens will enhance the already wide view of the F828, because it will not. (I made that mistake by thinking it will work fine…
