Re: Chapter 4, Professional Photoshop, 5th Edition
There is a good explanation of how Dan sets the highlight and shadow values on page 89; he says an agressive value would be 98 and 3, while a more conservative value would be 94 and 10. However, he points out that we need to "resist the temptation to overuse it", and it's "easy to fix those things in other color… -
Re: 5D Classic & Windows 7 question
Emulators like that are a godsend for older software - my husband loves old DOS and windows 3.1 games (don't ask! ) for which it's great. Thanks to his research to get those running, he also managed to coax a rather recalcitrant win95/98 home design program to run for me using one of those as well. Good to know it works… -
Re: FOUND: small, cheap, windows laptop
I have a Panasonic Toughbook with Windows 98 that will run NetStumbler, then you can export than to mapping software. I use the com port for GPS input and the wifi card for the wardriving. I paid $150 for it, there are plenty out there. Unfortunately saying, "Must be cheap" and "Must run XP" you are contradicting yourself.… -
Re: Can any other brand beat Canon L
Just another view about the IQ of the 24-105L. It's my most used lens ~ It's on my 5D2 98% of the time, and I've got some other very nice glass to choose from. From portaits to landscapes, it's my favorite! It's IQ never lets me down If I could only own one lens, this would be it... hands down! Slight crop, but not much -
Re: Latest Mayhem find -- Erica D.
Thanks kdog. Glad you like her. Thanks for the comments Cuban. 98% of my shoots are TF* shoots, many with brand new models. The only cash paying I do is the Russian group shoots and the occasional photo cruise where we pay fir the models' cruise fare. If the name isn't something like Oksana or Stefaniya and it's not in the… -
Re: Don't throw away those blurred images...Adobe has an answer - WOW!
The larger the shake and the more complicated the shake path, the greater the number of machine cycles it takes to "unthread" the damage. It can take a large image plenty of time to process, even on a very powerful machine and even with carefully optimized algorithms. Other software that can do some motion deconvolution:… -

Re: SmugLoader - manage your SmugMug photos and videos
You can find below the relevant page for Java version 6: http://java.sun.com/javase/6/webnotes/install/system-configurations.html As you can see, the supported Windows versions are 7/XP/Vista/2000/2003/2008. If I would have a Win 98, I would give it a try, but I think I wouldn't go back to Win95. I hope it helps. -
Re: D700 Question
I've no experience with any of the gear under discussion - nearest being a quick try with a (used) 5D1 when I was using a 20D - difference was considerable :) However ... << I don't think the 100% vs 95/98 really matters with regards to brightness >> If the 95% relates to linear % rather than area, then this ends up being…
