Re: New! Picasa Uploader
Weird. So I just re-uploaded 132 photos, and the first 122 went fine (but I never got the Upload Status from your server). Then I selected and uploaded the last 10 photos, and I *did* get the status this time. I really shouldn't have these kinds of problems from my work. We've got a DS3, and it's pretty solid. -
FEC vs power?
One thing about my SB-800 has me confused. Apologies if it's a noob question, but I didn't really see a discussion of it in the SB-800 manual. I can set FEC or power (i.e. 1/132). Don't both serve to reduce the amount of light coming out of the flash? If so, is it simply a matter where you'd manually set the power output… -
Re: A beer photo
Last summer one of the local beer delivery trucks left one of his bay doors open as he pulled away from his stop. He made a pretty sharp turn and a whole pallet (132 cases) fell out. You should have seen the madness, him trying to get it back in the truck and all the passerbys trying to get it in their trucks Just one more… -
Re: Tell your story in photos, not words...
This is not a "Street Photography" thread or even in this forum. I am inviting participants in this forum to participate in this ongoing Mini Challenge/photo contest that is part of DGrin. No strict rules, though the contest parameter is for the photo to do the talking or have the story embedded in the image. I am the sole… -
Sacred Land of the Navajo Nation
I travelled the land of the Diné in search of wisdom. What I found, is nothing more wonderous in imagery and the soft timbre of a flute by Chief Tsosie, a spirit guide, if you may. Into the land of the Díyín diné’é, the holy people and the sacred land of Navajo Nation. To get there, I traversed hard and dry terrains of… -
Westcott Green Screen Background
Is this material for a green screen worth the additional $$ over just getting a $40 backdrop on eBay? It supposedly does not reflect light so there should be minimal bleeding into the hair if we have the subject standing far enough away from the backdrop and do the lighting correctly. Also, It is supposedly wrinkly free… -
Re: Stuck in processing - when will the problem be fixed?
I have this problem almost every time I upload, one or a few will take 10 to 100 times as long as the others. It is truly annoying, as it thows off numbering (e.g. "look at #132" which for me is 132, but for someone else it's 129 because 3 are processing). It makes it very difficult to use Smugmug as a reliable conveyance… -
image resize question
I took a photo that someone emailed to me, opened it in CS3, cropped it to the needed dimensions (512x400 px), clicked save as a jpeg, adjusted the quality slider so that the size was about 95 kb, hit save. When I look at the photo in Windows Explorer, it says the file size is 86KB. If I open up the image in CS3 again and… -
Re: Better formatting of large CF cards?
If memory serves - the cluster size is the smallest addressable area in a partition. SO any data file will be at least 32k rather than 4K. This means 2k of data require 32k of space, but since in a camera all files are about the same size, it probably won't be a problem. The cluster size has to with how the drive is… -
