Re: Why is 'laptop' lingo so different to PC's
If you trust the people, then the machine spec looks nice. It may be a little hard to tell how it would cope with 'airport abuse', but the component specs look OK, as long as it has been engineered by someone with neurons... The price of an extended warranty is often an interesting sign of how confident a company are. The… -

Re: One Darn Fantastic Deal 16gb Cf $79
Higher speeds wasted on most dSLRs And probably most cameras don't support 266x (40 MB/sec) write speed. You can put a 266x card in a "regular" dSLR and probably only get 80x to 133x write speeds out of it. For the person who asked about conversion factor, "1x" for flash cards is 150 KBytes per second (KB/sec). So 133x =… -
Re: Muench Workshops: The Return of Wild Utah
Grand Junction is pretty neat with the Colorado National Monument being well worth the visit. The drive from Grand Junction to Carbondale (via 50/92/133) is very beautiful. It will take longer than going I70, but is well worth it. Aspen is really neat, but Maroon Bells takes the cake. It is incredibly beautiful, especially… -

Re: Photoshop Scratch Disk...
Very few that I know of... and with IDE, you'd want to span the drives across several channels anyway, so the odds of finding a hardware raid solution that isn't absurdly expensive is pretty low. (Adaptec has a really nice sata raid card if you're looking for hardware raid... 16 ports, lots of features, 64bit/66mhz pci… -
Re: Need help with telephoto.
The VR is not the only difference in the VR version if the 70-300. The optical quality is on a totally different plane. See these reviews: Nikon 70-300mm VR: http://www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/992/cat/13 Nikon 70-300 (non-VR): http://www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/122/cat/13 While the… -
Re: Looking for DIY projects....
Ok here is your challenge. The LED's you substituted are 3.6 V, 20 mA That is what they need to ignite. With a 6V battery that would need (6-3.6= 2.4 V to get a 2.4 volt drop at 20 mA you need a U=IXR 2.4=.020AXR R=120 ohms) or with a 9V battery you would need (9-3.6=5.4V 5.4 drop at 20 mA => 270 Ohm). The error snuck in… -
