The Grand Canyon - North Rim and Toroweap
I was lucky enough to make two motorcycle/photographic expeditions to The Grand Canyon this summer. Once with my 10 year old son and again with a fellow motorcyclist/photographer. The trips were 5 days each. I'm just an amatuer photographer who started really trying to learn only 2 years ago with my first DSLR. I have… -

Decisions, AGAIN - Aperture vs. IS? Zoom vs. Prime?
Helloooo everybody again! Well, it's been a while since I had to make my last purchase/gear decisions, and it's that time of the year again :D Just to recap, I've been shooting with a 20D and a 24-70/2.8 and 70-200/2.8 mostly, but also had a 35/2 and a 50/1.4 in my repertoire which I've recently sold. I shoot all kinds of… -
SmugMug Pages Not Loading...
Help! I have been having recuring problems loading my smugmug account for the past month or so. Typically when this happens, I am so busy that I can't send in a report about it. It's doing it again right now...and I have the time to report it. I just uploaded some photos. That went as fast as usual. When I went to the page… -
Thanks DGrin..you cost me $1000...
Yep, you saw that right..$1000. See, I researched getting a dSLR when the new Rebel XT and Nikon D70/50 were made available. This was over a year ago. I already own a Canon Rebel Xs film camera and lens. My brother has a Nikon D100 and a handful of lenses. So the decision whether Canon or Nikon? Borrowing lenses would be… -
Still having speed issues
Due to life constraints, I put my photography on hold for a few months - and a primary factor of that was the lack of speed to my smugmug site from anywhere around my area. It was frustrating to take pictures and have my customers tell me they couldn't see the pictures. I thought it had something to do with DSL vs Cable… -
Two Days With the Sheep 02/11-12/11
So John and I went back out sheep hunting, hunting with our lenses anyway and it was quite the day for it. Windy, snowy, cold and visibilty was slim. Driving down the highway we looked up the cliffs and found a few sheep eating away. So we drove further on and headed up the hill to try and get on a high ridge point above… -

Re: Converting Nikon D7000 Raw files to .dng
Adobe Camera RAW 6.3 will not support cs4. They never support software that old in versions of acr this new, you typically only see 6 months of overlap at the max. My suggestion to you would be to use adobe's dng converter. DNG's tend to be about 35% smaller as they use lossless compression, and you only have one physical… -
Re: First DSLR!!!!URGENT!!!!
not sure why its urgent but this was found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_single-lens_reflex_camera at the bottom of the page. On August 25, 1981 Sony unveiled a prototype of the first still video camera, the Sony Mavica. This camera was an analog electronic camera that featured interchangeable lenses and a SLR…
