Re: starting overdue backup system
I started out like this , I was using BACK UP NOW....it was great....using re-writable disks it would tell me which dis to start the new back up with all was good....then the little ol HP died and the system back up was useless with the new computer.... So now all my software is also burned to 3 different disks stored in… -
Re: The Elements -- behind the scenes
I had a few other ideas to show the elements, which involved the use of friends as models. Unfortunately, people have lives, so the ideas I was going to use will be on the back burner. I pretty much waited until the last minute and was running out of ideas. I wanted my photo to literally have all four elements in it. In my… -
Re: Snuff out my candles
No worries about reposting and editing. I really, really appreciate the help and comments. Today I set up the lights again to test the white balance. Since I have a really tiny place I shoot tethered so that I can see the images without running over the to camera. Last time I set the camera to JPG for faster rendering but… -
Re: Rotate image issues
Hello, I think that the cause of this bug has been sorted out. Thank you for everyone who has worked so hard to try and reproduce this and all of your generosity in posting critical details here. Without that effort, this would have been impossible. If I were to list the names of everyone who helped, it would a very long… -
Re: One minute at Grand Teton National Park
Thanks, this was definitely one of those trips that makes it all worth it. I might have to do that :) Hey! Just because I call my shots cliche doesn't mean you get to too! We couldn't see the barns and could barely see the mountains when we were there in the morning, we overshot the barn by a hundred yards or so, but once… -
Re: Help with bad photo.
Yo Behr... I gave it a try late last night (early this morning actually), and I got just about what everyone else here got, so I didn't bother to post. I starting getting heavy artifacts the more I played with it as well, is the original on your smug page? I agree about he cropping, one of the first things I did was cut… -
Re: Mini Challenge #228: a rose is a rose...
An interesting challenge. Normally I have a couple hundred photos to choose from for a challenge. This time there were only about 10. Roses are not something that I typically take photos of - most of the good photos of roses that I have were taken by Bob or are of roses in arrangements (like flowers my kids gave me on… -
Re: What do your clients get picture wise?
There seems to be a trend in the US of digital receipt of images, rather than a printed album. Many choose to print themselves, and combine into their own album, and some never print more than one or two. I personally don't mind, so as to limit the amount of resource consumption, but then again, I'm a treehugger who lives… -
Re: Traveling photogs: advice on finding plane tickets
Good news! I found a ticket for a great price. I figured I'd post what I did to find the best prices: I first went through with Kayak, to see how much tickets were going for at the desired time I wanted to get there. I also checked how much a flight would cost six weeks ahead of time (which generally has the best rates).… -
Re: Need Help with my site
Come on Glort, your "exactly the kind of post" post was ambiguous. I enjoy Sam's posts. You can imagine that SM is a greedy corporation fooling photographers into buying a service they don't really need, and providing indifferent customer service, but you would be wrong. It is a mom-n-pop company run by photographers with…
