Re: Wheres the best place to get Memory Cards?
I've bought my memory cards from 2 places: ecost.com (very good deals, change on a daily basis, very trustworthy) ebay None of the cards I ever got from ebay were stolen. Many times, they are new, but have the UPC cut off... so no rebates, which are common. Just make sure to buy from a reputable seller - high ratings.… -
Re: Anticipation
So it isn't just TomTom! I thought my friend was going to Toss tomtom out the window. Quietly driving along, she was napping. I was just tooling along then 'TURN LEFT!' She jolts awake and I bust up laughing. He also took us in a circle and got me a speeding ticket going through some backcountry road with no speed limit… -
DSS 109: C&C on butterfly larvae
Black swallowtails and Spicebush, too, have started laying their eggs in my parsley. I watched one for a long time depositing a few eggs today. I've been watching this egg for a few days and it seems about to hatch. My other cosideration are these two caterpillars. Butterfly teenager Butterfly toddler I have been AWOL from… -
Re: And another new guy. And a B-17 nose!
Correct! That was not much of a challenge. I have seen the Spruce Goose in Long Beach and in McMinnville, Or., where it now resides. If you get the chance, you gotta go there. Great museum, although I think the Spruce Goose was displayed better in Long Beach. This thing is so big you really can't imagine the size from the… -
Re: 20D & 30D reading CF cards size differently
Makes perfect sense to me. The camera is expecting the file to be noisier & therefore larger. I'll bet Canon spent a bunch of time getting a feel for the file sizes the sensor produces at each ISO setting with each quality setting & created some kind of lookup table to use for displaying expected number of shots. I have… -
Winners of the Mini Challenge #109 - "A place in the world"
Hi, first I'd like to thank everyone who participated. Really nice entries and hard to pick just a few. I liked them all and I think to mention first some that particularly attracted my eye, by their expressivity, post processing, composition or uniqueness, so I made a new category before the mentions and the winners I. 10… -

mm vs. degrees
So this has really been bothering me lately. Other than a marketing ploy to get you to think you have something great, why are lenses measured in focal length (mm) instead of their angle of view(degrees)?:scratch e.g.: A Sigma 10-20 EX DC HSM has a 102.4 degree angle of view... while the new Nikon 10-24 ED AF-S DX has a…
