late christmas gift
This is my daughter at a few hours old. She had a rough trip to the world. Mommy got a 104 fever and possibly an infection. That said, we had to have a c section. Little Kennedy has some problems breathing and has amniotic fluid on her lungs so she is staying in the NCIU for a week. The docs say she'll be fine, and I'm… -
Re: Found: Nikon SB 26 flash unit.
Here is a used one at Adorama for $139. But you should look at the SB28 ($104) they have as well. Its a few years newer, three to be exact, a bit smaller, and much cheaper. It only lacks the slave function which you can add back on with this for $17. This is the setup I use. The SB26 price has gone crazy ever since David… -
Re: degredation of sensor
The specifications in the back of your user manual will generally indicate design operating temperatures. Many folks operate outside of those parameters without problems, but the camera is not "designed" to operate at those extremes and doing so may lead to earlier failure. Obviously, if you really need to photograph… -
Smugmug Explorer: new version 104
What's new:* Now you can create Categories and Subcategories (even several at a time!) right from SE. It's a hack (since there is no API for these actions), but it seems to work fine. Thanks David (devbobo) for pointing out in this direction! Category/Subcategory Deletion/Renaming will follow soon, followed by - SYNC!:-) *… -
DSS #104 - Bugs & Blossoms
I am hoping to get out again, but here are a few shots from yesterday. Shooting small moving targets with manual focus, manual exposure, and hand held Canon 60 mm macro lens = challenge, at least for me. 1. 2. 3. Any thoughts on these? Hoping to reprocess some and perhaps get some fresh shots, if I have time. My monitor… -

Re: displaying large print
It looks beautiful! I am kinda shellshocked that to put a recessed frame on a 278 dollar metal print was an extra 104 bucks, but i thought it would be a better hanging solution to cover a switchbox and would be more professional looking and supportive than just the float blocks. I think if I do more, I'll try just the… -
Re: Newbie Canon 7D Owner - What Lens?
It really depends on your shooting style. Personally, I own both the 17-55 and the 24-105, and I find that I use the latter a lot more often than the former on my 50D. It's not that I don't like the quality of the 17-55 (on the contrary, it's a great lens), it's just that I use 55-104 a lot more often than 17-24. Might be… -
Gion at Night in Kyoto, Japan
We took a stroll through Gion in the evening and I snapped a few shots. Date: March 9th, 2008 Camera: Rebel XTi... I used both the sigma 70-200 f2.8 and the canon 24-104 f4/l is usm this evening, it was the only time I took the 70-200 out my whole trip, lol, but then ended up switching back to the 24-105 for the wider…
