Re: LOCATION: USA - Southwest
If Zoos are your thing... Phoenix is home to the Phoenix Zoo and right next door is the Desert Botanical Gardens. The Phoenix Zoo is one of the nation’s largest privately owned, non-profit zoological parks, standing on 125 acres in Phoenix’sPapago Park. Nestled amid the red buttes of Papago Park, the Desert Botanical… -
Re: winter scene c&c wanted
Hi Catcher, In fairness, you don't have much to photograph there! If I were you, I would try and get closer to that fence, with a wide angle lens, try and pick up some detail and texture in the wood, and use the wide angle to give you shot some depth with the receding fence. If you can use the fence to lead to something, a… -
Re: The price is right, but is the equipment?
I bought a similar backdrop stand from Adorama for $139. But it doesn;t come with a white backdrop. But I don't think a 10x12 sheet of white fabric is worth the $35 difference. I got a 11x20 white muslin for $50 a while back. Here is the link to the stand I got. http://www.adorama.com/JTB1012.html You might want white… -
Re: Looking for a CHEAP starter strobe kit
Take a look at MPEX's Strobist Kits page. 1. I started with the "Starving Student Household Kit (SH2)", which does not come with the flash for $139 2. I bought 1 Vivitar 285HV on eBay for $65 3. I bought 1 Vivitar 285HV from a friend for $25 4. I made a second light stand out of PVC for about $5 5. I bought 1 Cactus… -

Didn't think much of it at the time: I thought it was kind of boring compared to another photo taken at same location of old railroad tracks. But this image caught my eye the other night because of the composition. Perhaps intentional -- or perhaps… -

Re: Scanner Advice?
Well, you get what you pay for. You can spend less, and get a scanner for the occasional family photo, or you can get one that will handle slides, negatives and highquality scans of photos. I doubt you need to buy a multi-pass high end scanner, but you will be hard pressed to spend much less than $100-!50 to get a decent… -
