What to look for when buying a used lens?
I see a craiglist advt for a Nikon 50mm 1.4 for $165. Shall be going over tomorrow to try it out. He says it works perfectly (his words : "Beautiful Nikon 50mm F/1.4 manual Lens") Seeing that this lens sells new for $300 - $450 (depending on if it is the D or the G version), that is a pretty low price. So what should I… -
Re: Cheap Ways to get 430ex Off Camera
It's being suggested that the rumoured 7D is going to have a built-in flash controller (story here)... which I bet will mean a lot of ste2 units hit the 2nd-hand market if that's true! If you can, it might be worth waiting a couple of weeks to see what's announced in case you can snag a bargain and an easy way to start… -
Re: canon 7d /Canon EF 85/1.2L II USM ?!!
OK, just had a look on amazon.com, 165 people gave it 5*, 6 people gave it 1*, complaining about softness/focussing problems. I wonder how many amazon have sold, many thousands I would guess, and out of those only 6 had a major problem that annoyed them enough to slate it. It's not a soft lens, maybe there has been a few… -
Re: Is this weird?? No sales at all??
I've had a pro account for a long time for the HD video capabilities, but just recently got into sill photography and on September 4th decided to sell prints of sporting events that my kids are involved with (football and gymnastics). I'm a hobbyist and not out to make more than just hobby money, so my prices are pretty… -
Nikon D700 and MB D10
I have decided to pick up a new D800 but first the D700 has to go. This is a USA model with the box and all the normal things. Camera is in excellant condition, only one small nick on the pentaprism top near the hot shoe. It is visable in the pictures. I can assure you that is has no effect on any images. The shutter count… -
Need waterfall advice
I'm putting together a last-minute trip to do some day and night waterfall photos. Problem is, I don't have all the gear I really need to do a good job. What I do have is a 20D with a 24-105L. I don't yet have a tripod, a circular polarizer, or a ND filter. The tripod on my list is the 3021 BPRO w/ 322RC2 ($270). The CP… -
Re: The Most Successful Racing Cobra Ever
I once hit 145 mph on one of my motorcycles. I could have gone faster but my balls decided to vacate the scene about then so I abruptly backed off. The fastest I've been in a car was 165 mph when a friend took me around the Daytona track in a Buick he was racing in one of the junior circuits. Once a year, the track allowed…
