Re: RAW or JPEG
I don't know if DPP has the option, but in PS you can shift from 16 to 8 in the Image Menu under the Mode heading (you can select the color space and bits per channel), you want RGB 8-bits/channel. In general, keep things in 16-bit until you need to go to 8-bit. No need to through away precision when you don't need to. -
Re: Anyone own the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM Macro?
I just got done doing a review on the Canon 100mm Macro and it is nothing short of incredible!! Tons of sample photos and more here >> http://jhpvideotutorials.com/2011/06/10/macro-lens-shootout-canon-ef-100mm-f2-8-l-is-macro-vs-canon-ef-100mm-f2-8-macro-vs-tamron-sp-af-90mm-f2-8-di-macro/ Best, Jay -

Will saving in IQ 8 same quality as IQ 10 ?
Not too sure where to post, hope here is fine. There was an article in DP Review, 2009 stating multiple resavings of pic in IQ 8 in CS will hv no deterioration as compared to saving in IQ 10. And if I remembered in the same article (too lengthy to search again), it even stated that there is no diff in print quality bet IQ… -
UTF-8 and Firefox
I have a problem with Firefox recognizing UTF-8 charset properly. It always sets the character encoding to Western (ISO-8859-1). I noticed that the first tag in my smugmug page is: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> I saved smugmug page on my computer and removed lang="en" from that tag.… -
Prevent Photoshop saving 8-bit .PSD files
Hi! New here. I do something too often that bits me in the digital darkroom... My workflow is, import RAW to PS CS2 via ACR. Next, post process and saw as a .PSD (16-bit). Finally, if needed, crop, resize, and convert to 8-bit and save as a .JPEG to upload to SmugMug. I like keeping a copy of the .RAW file, the post…
