That missing blog functionality
WARNING: this is going to be a long, probably incoherent, ramble of why I'm playing with the idea of switching from Smugmug to some other platform I've been thinking about why I'm not using my smugmug site as much as I want, I really want to use Smugmug but I'm not doing it to the degree I want. I better give you some… -
Anniversary V California Coast
My wife and I just celebrated five years of matrimonial bliss. At her request, we took one of our semi-regular trips to the coast. We overnighted in Santa Barbara, Solvang, and Cambria. Here are a few of the favorite photos along with a little text. We started off in downtown Ventura to poke around the shops. Before long,… -
FS: Bags, books, filters, and more
I am simplifying my process and what I use and it's time to empty the storage boxes and the closet to pass on some excellent condition items. I've listed what I think are exceedingly fair prices. If you disagree, make me an offer. I'm interested in moving all of this stuff out of the storage boxes and out of my psyche, so… -
Re: Need help finding a great camera. :)
You got lots of really good advice since last time I looked, I agree with it all. The body is not so much important as the lenses. I will assume you are really seriously getting into photography for the long haul, in which case spending the bucks on good glass is worth the investment. I'll use my own thought processes for… -
Re: Need Advice on Lighter Alternative for Sports Photos
My answer is going to be much less on the technology side of the equation - Ziggy has already dealt with those issues. I want to know how satisfied you are with the AF of the 7D. I used a 7D a lot from the day it was introduced, until the 7DMkii and the 70D were introduced. But does the 7D offer everything you desire… -
Re: Daniel O'Connell's House in Ireland
Hello SuperJared. I use Canon equipment. The camera is a 20D, the lens a 16~35 f:2.8 LUSM and the flash is the 430 EX with a white "condom" :D. As you may know the crop for the 20D is 1.6. I am sorry I could not have a lens with wider angle to get a better crop... The flash was directed somewere. No direct flash. Bounced.… -
Re: Unofficial LPS 15 Feedback Thread
OK OK... Only YOU could get me to respond to this. I was just so worn out from yet another horse show weekend in which I couldn't go to bed on time, as I was watching my Red Sox into the wee hours.... So... soooo many entries to consider, very very low percentage of throwouts.. I had 35 in my initial pass. These 13 are my… -
Re: Xylotrupes gideon
'gus - Manufacturers put Macro on any lens that will let you shoot close to the subject and capture an image on film/sensor that is at least 1/2 size of the subject itself. A 2 cm long bug shot with a typical macro would be at least 1 cm long for a 2-1 ratio. Most better macro lenses create images that are 1-1. That 2 cm… -
Re: Sigma's new 150-500 MTFs - Bigma still reigns?
Hmmm... maybe not FWIW--> Apparently, Sigma had posted the wrong MTF charts for the 150-500 as their posting now reflects the following... After others pointed this out, I did a bit more reading of info on reading MTF charts and now have to say that this more in depth understanding and with the new charts, I'm changing my…
