Re: 6d ll. Vs 5 d lll. Indoor sports ?
Choosing between these two cameras, the Canon EOS 6D Mark II and the Canon EOS 5D Mark III, for indoor sports is rather easy. Only one of these is designed as a "Sports/Action" camera; the 5D Mark III. The reason? While the 5D Mark III inherits its AF module from the flagship Canon 1DX, the 6D Mark II inherits its AF… -
Re: Mini Challenge #213 - Your Favorite
I am feeling totally inadequate because I am really just a snapshot photographer. And I don't as a rule think my photos are something I can be 'satisfied' with as a photographer. Some of the photos were taken with a point and shoot camera so the quality suffers some. So I am going to try to post photos that I have a reason… -
Re: Cindy 2
Ha - I'm no expert on fashion shooting, I just have strong taste and a big mouth!!! I'm not 100% sold on the styling in this one - it works in some shots, but not in others. I know you say you leave it entirely to the model, but I think they need input so that the vision for the "whole shot" is cohesive. It's really tough… -
How to calibrate without calibration hardware
I know I need calibration hardware, yet just do not have it yet. Before me, my computer, monitor and software DO have a million settings many of which I know nothing about (yet). I just acquired a new LCD and sent my CRT to the back room. With my fresh calibration print in hand (which looks a little yellow to me), I was… -
The Rosetta Stone
Surrounded by low rent apartments, garages, mechanic's shops, bearing stores, coffee shops, and large trash piles sits an old mansion in the heart of Cairo slowly decaying while being ignored by most of the people who walk past it every day. The story told on the streets about this place is that this mansion was the home… -

FS/FT: Canon Starter Setup XSi 450D, 18-55 IS, 55-250 IS, 50 1.8 II, extras
Hey DGrinners, The time has come to let go of my first digital photography setup. The camera body, lenses, and accessories have been invaluable to me in realizing my passion for photography, and as the new owner of a 7D and 24-70L, I hope to find a new home for this gently used gear and save up for future gear purchases.… -
>>> LPS#10 Feedback thread
This is getting harder, I selected 34 photos the first time through. And the last pass was hardest of all. Really nice work in getting the idea of Surf or Turf across to the viewer. One word of warning though, many are slipping back to using the theme words in the title: http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=67646 It is… -
Re: July 18. Wedding
For the dress - here's a couple or three ideas: 1. As it was - I took this image because I knew what I wanted (see next image) but was not sure I would be able to pull it off. So, I took a safety. 2. This is the result of a different exposure and a bit of work in post 3. One of my earliest successes I don't know that… -
