Thanks, I was very lucky to get that job. The bride was a fashion model, family was wealthy, makeup artist was the best in the city/state, and the environment was excellent.
first and only wedding
i did my friend's low-budget wedding last year when i first got my D80. this was my first DSLR. i have no intention of doing weddings anytime soon, but i did him a favor and recorded their day free of charge! here's the one i like best. any feedback would be appreciated!
Your Favorite Wedding Photo
I have enjoyed looking at all the others. One photo it is soooooo hard to pick one.
Weddings are such fun for me. I enjoy happy people.
Make that "Mr. Wealth of "Technical" Information. ! D
And that is a great link... Now about getting some straws....
When/if y'all call me "Mr. Wealth of Artistic and Technical Information" .... then I will start to think I have something real to offer. Right now, I just read a lot, remember where I read it, and offer it up to others.
FWIW - Ziggy is my hero - I want to be like him when/if I ever come close to growing up.
Edit: Forgot to include people like (and in no particular order) urbanaries, photogmomma, Swartzy, Blurmore, heatherfeather and the list just goes on and on. One day, maybe?
Great value for what you get. They are small (slip in your pocket until you need it) and tough. The downside is that they produce a slightly rectangular hot spot.
Another option is to use studio grids and an adapter of sorts (I use an old lightsphere painted black). This produces a much more circular hot spot, but you can't put it in your pocket. Another advantage is that you can have a more flexible choice of grid angles this way. David Tejada had a great write up on this: http://davidtejada.blogspot.com/2008/12/old-grids-still-have-life.html
WOW! I wish I'd taken that. nice timing. and what a wonderful sport the brid must be to make it happen. Course with that fun flirty dress, you'd want to expect a happy personality.

Thanks for the kind words! I just used a canon 580 with a tight grid on the bride.
And another vote for the coolness of that one... Sooo cool!
Amazing light. Apparently I am in need of figuring out how to grid the light next.
Cool Cool Cool Shot.

the spot light on the floor is an AB with the cardboard grid.
I made a snoot for my sunpak 622 zoom head for this self portrait.
The AB grid was made as described on the blog Scott posted. The carboard DOES warm the light but not too bad.
DJ,
Did you photoshop in those crepuscular rays, or is that natural and you got lucky as all get-out?

I've also only done one wedding, for my sister in law... you should have heard the groom when he saw the finger holes...
"LISA! SOMEONE STUCK THEIR FINGER IN OUR CAKE!"
I love the wind on this last one!! It looks like it was a whirlwind romance!! But really, that is really cool.
