    GONE and GONE.
So - all you photogs and others who will attending this from out of town:
I have two Hertz car rental vouchers. Each voucher is worth $100.00 off the rental of a vehicle. I am no longer in a position to use them anymore.
The vouchers must actually be redeemed prior to or on 01 December 2008. That means you must begin renting on or before 01 December 2008. Also, you must rent a vehicle for at least 5 days, but less than 21 days. There does not appear to be any class restriction, so any size car should apply.
As far as I can tell both vouchers can be combined on one rental.
If you need one then please PM me.

    Thanks for the voucher post!!

I guess the SM launch was a cold one: "The lowest recorded temperature was 15°F in 2003" from the link off a page 1 post to TWC...

    cheers, tom

Fill out the form again. You'll get a message that it cannot redo, but also an email confirmation.ne_nau.gif At least that is what happened when I did it.

So just thinking out loud... if a bunch of Dgrinners are all congregating in the same area; it sounds like a day of shooting could happen. Anyone got ideas or desire for that?

Maybe someone can explain what all the buttons on my cameras do?headscratch.gif

    Hi Ben

I think I am arriving Thursday late afternoon. Maybe we should start a thread over in 'Locations'?

We're absolutely thrilled to (finally) announce the location for our first ever Dgrin birthday party!

    Tied House Brewing Co.

The locals say it's great and they can accommodate all of us and then some. Thanks to Smuggy, dinner's on the house so show up, chit-chat, eat, geek, and be merry!

    The nitty gritty:
    • 7 PM, December 6th 2008 @ 954 Villa St, Mountain View, CA 94041
    • Food is on us but drinks are on you
    • If you do choose to drink, please be responsible and take a cab or a choose a designated driver!
    • Mountain View is typical suburban area, so make arrangements for your own transportation
    • RSVPs close on October 1st, but reply to this thread if you want to be put on the wait list after that time
    • If you initially responded as a 'Maybe,' please let us know if you're coming by November 29th so we can allow others to get a spot
I've updated the first post of this thread with some useful travel information for those of you who aren't Mountain View, CA residents.
    See you there! beer.gifwings.gif

    Some options:

Hotel Zico: People stayed here during the smugmug anniversary party and they seem happy with it. This the one that I would recommend due to feedback from people. Maybe we can get a group rate?

    Motel 6 in Sunnyvale

    Hotel Lodge in Mountain View

    Quality Inn in Mountain View

Holiday Inn Express in Mountain View

All are around 5-10 minutes away.

Note: I live in the area -- post away if you have questions.

Airports: SJC is the closest, but SFO and OAK are local too.

Just one more addition (as if you needed more incentive to join us! :D ), Nikolai is going to be setting up a photo booth for all kinds of great fun/wacky/sassy portraits. If you were at the SmugMug birthday last year, you know that Shay's photo booth was a great success and tons of fun.

Thanks for stepping up!! Bring it on, Nik! clap.gif

Oh, YAY! clap.gif The last photo booth photo we used for our Christmas card and it was a big hit! Now all we need is a MUA (make up artist) rolleyes1.gif

I'll have to swing by the restaurant next time I'm in the area and check out the parking situation.

Looking forward to seeing dgrinners again.

Ohhh, that's a nifty looking hotel. It would be awesome if they had a group rate they could offer!

4LeggedFotos and I are flying in to SFO and will land at 9:42 pm on Tuesday December 2. We fly out of SFO on Monday, December 8 at 1:35 pm. We're both up for shooting and travelling.

We're certainly willing to go shooting!!

    Christina,

When I did an internet search on room availability on their site, the rates I found were even better than any group rate I've seen for them.

    Book now! :D

No need. Plenty of parking. These is a gravel lot right across the street and a four story parking structure less than a block away, and many more all over downtown as well as street.

Just a bit of warning -- full stop for stop signs (and not the California roll). The Mountain View police station is just the next block over (public safely HQ)

Free parking. XXXX marks the spot. The circle ones are the ones that I usually use when I drive to the Tied House. Lot 2 works too, just less spaces.

So, I can arrive anytime from Wednesday p.m. to Friday a.m., depending on number of active shooting (shopping) days! (flights from Edmonton to SFO, not SJC arrive at 9ish, 4ish or, if flying through Denver ne_nau.gif can arrive in the evening).

Shall we get a pre-party shoot thread rolling?

Vacation request submitted. Frequent Fliers miles checked... so this might just work out. Decided that I don't want to rely on the biz trip. So it is looking better and better, just waiting on vacation approval.
