For everyone: we have all asked for more critiques and feedback. Well, we just got a good dose. I would say be careful what you ask for, but I'm caffeinated. mwink.gif Instead I'll say we have a great community here, but the world outside isn't always going to be as accomodating. Critiques aren't always going to be nice. It's tough—we artists can be a sensitive lot—but it's your choice what you take out of any critique or compliment. Listen to it. Learn from it. Move on.

    Everyone, let's move on.

    Let's move forward! :D

I'd posit that Artists need to argue on occasion as well. Van Gogh didn't cut his own ear off. It took two male artists arguing over a woman. :duel

Manbou, thank you for grabbing the edge of the scrim and reaching through. It's engendered a good discussion. But I also agree with Kerry in terms of style. It will be a fine line to tread, but hopefully a truly valuable one.

just an honest question here, manbou? is English a Native language for you?

Why would you doubt that I am a native speaker of English? My command of the language is much better than yours, given your inability to correctly compose, capitalize, and punctuate a simple sentence.

Now that's just rude that you have all that at hand. How about a nice glass of Chardonnay instead?

Of course, if we have to stick to ice cream, I'll stand by that it isn't the flavour but the source that makes the difference. Anyone up for a trip to Tosci's in Cambridge?

Wow! What a thread! Two things I learned a long time ago...

    1. When you meet someone, first impressions usually last forever.

    2. There's pretty much nothing that $10k of therapy won't cure.

I'd rather spend the $10k on gear, myself ... :D

ne_nau.gif Kat, I'm so broke my wife and I got married just for the rice.

However, a fun afternoon project is to create your own light tent using a cardboard box, old (clean!) t-shirts, and masking tape. thumb.gif Better than therapy and more useful, too.

No Kat. I'm not calling anybody crazy.

Not to :deadhorse but I just couldn't believe the :puke I was hearing from a certain individual so I had to get my 2 cents in.

    Ah...I feel better now.

I totally get where everyone is coming from, however I just want to create some balance, let us not forget that without manbou's stinging critiques, we would not have had such a rich discussion.

I'm a big fan of American Idol (it is extremely entertaining folks), and Simon is a big part of what makes the show great. He calls it like he sees it, and can be very offensive.

We have become very polite and politically correct here in our culture. We could use a bit more honest criticism in my view....and yes, I know there is a "proper" way to do it, but not everyone, i.e. Simon/manbou necessarily have the training and sensitivities that others have. Nevertheless, they provide an important service....their uncensored, unfiltered, authentic opinion.

Everything is a polarity, and I just thought I would provide some perspective on the other side of the coin, even though I totally am sympathetic to what has been said by many of you.

I am not trying to stir things up just for the sake of stirring things up. I believe this is an important conversation since we are all here primarily for constructive feedback. It is not always easy, and often difficult, for many to provide balance and authenticity. Some just spit out their knee jerk reactions which is easy, and yes, can hurt.

Hey, when is the last time you heard me ramble. Thanks for listening. :D
