ne_nau.gif I'm normally not this dense, I swear...how did you do that? I want to post my new coupon on Facebook & e-mail it (not just the code, but the cool-lookin' coupon) How would I do that?
I used a free tool called Skitch for Macs. Can easily do the same thing on Windows, using Jing.

Definitely excited about this. I may have missed it somewhere but I haven't seen it mentioned as to where the cost actually comes from. Can I assume it's directly taken from my profit after the 15% SM take?

Yep, in the case of a shipping coupon, the pro pays the cost instead of the customer.

This will come out of any profit on the order, and if the order doesn't have enough profit to absorb it, it will be billed to the pro's credit card.

Is there any way to have the coupon valid if they order a certain amount? I certainly wouldn't want a customer to order one 4x6 with this coupon and having it cost me money, I would like to see something like "Free shipping with an order of $25 or more".

See "Minimum Purchase" in the coupon design page.

Digital Downloads and other NEEDS from coupons
    Andy and Heros:

Thanks for finally releasing coupons. I am glad that the long wait is finally over. I do have a few questions, requests that will make the coupons usable for some of us:

    1. I have editors that want specific files from events for their publications. Since I use SM, I want them to come here to view the photos and ultimately be able to download them from the site. They pay me under contract, so they do not pay on a per-photo basis as they use them in their magazines. I would love to be able to track when they download though. A coupon for a FREE download would allow me to do this... (another way to accomplish this is to create a new user type (like and assistant) that would have access to one specific action (like downloading images) exclusively.

    2. For the last year I have used a specific free item as a "giveaway" at events that I shoot as a way to promote my services to the event organizers and to get competitors into the site. This works wonders, but has been a manual process (you didn't have coupons). Unfortunately, it is still manual because I still can not offer a specific item for free. Is this on the horizon? (this is probably the same as #1)

    3. I want to be able to control the use of coupons to specific events. I don't want a coupon that is wide open to all galleries, but specific to one. So, when I issue a coupon to be given away at a particular event, people can only use it on images from that gallery, not everything on my site...

    4. Coupons are quite basic at this point. There is one offer, and it is open to everything on the site... Are there any plans (hopfully soon) to give us the ability to offer an either/or coupon? An example would be, receive a free 5x7 print ($19.95 value) OR choose 20% off any order above $100. This would give many of use pros the ability to use a coupon to get people into the site, and upsell them so they do not just use the value of the coupon but actually purchase more when they come. It would be a HUGE advantage to those of us that want to sell more on SM!

    Thanks!

    Preventing coupon use on packages?
Any update on this? Because packages and coupons are both ways to discount photos, we need to be able to prevent stacking them. I would like to be able to offer both coupons and packages.

I like the flexibility of my customers being able to choose whatever they want and get a discount with a coupon, but I also want to be able to offer packages for people who can't be bothered to look through all the print sizes and products and need their hand held more.

As it is now, I can't do that, so I'm just doing coupons. I can't imagine anyone who is doing packages is also defining any coupons of any significant discount either.

Not yet but it is on the list of packages improvements.

Okay so I've set up some test coupons to see how it all works... now I want to delete them and don't see any way to do it.

    How do we delete coupons?

Wow, wow, I just came to this forum with the exact same question, I created a test one on print credit and I don't want an inroad to get me charged. Yes, I can obscure the code, but truly, would lik a clean house to nuke it. Glad to see (in this thread) that a delete option is coming.

Just expire the coupon by setting the expiration date in the past and it'll be inactive.

Currently, you can only expire coupons but not remove them completely.

    Hi,

There is not currently a way to delete a coupon but, you can expire it. To expire the coupon go to coupon management and change or set the expiration date. Also, just as an FYI the coupons operate on the pacific time zone so, they'll expire at midnight pacific time for the day you set.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, we are always happy to help.

    Can't stack coupons?
I'd like customers to be able to stack coupons. I'm shooting little league baseball and softball for May and June and I have some standard coupons available to all until the end of July. I'd like to offer an additional 10% off "early bird" coupon for people who order within 1 day of my email to them announcing their photos are online. But alas I tested this myself and you can't apply more than one coupon to an order. Is stacking in the works?

I imagine the stackability would have to be optional and/or coupons would have to apply to only a chosen sub-set of galleries.

I realize I can just adjust pricing myself for a day, but I think it would be more satisfying for a customer to be able to enter an additional coupon code themselves, so they can "push the button" and see exactly what they are saving.

    feature?
Perhaps the pro should have the ability to apply a coupon to an order during the order acceptance process (when proof-delay is on). You know, for numbskull customers who can't be bothered to read simple directions and apply their own coupons. Thread on that here.

    Agree to that.

Also, would really like to be able to give coupons that are gallery specific. Please, heroes?

Another reason to have stackable coupons... next year I am going to propose to my little league committee that they charge every player a $20 photo fee. You know, because I'm worth it. ;) What I would like to be able to do is give everyone a $25 print credit in return. And then I would also like to offer additional coupons for people who want to spend even more, AND issue early-bird coupons as detailed above.

Now we need to have the ability to restrict to certain products/prints. Or better yet the ability to exclude certain products. ie. 10% off all 4x6 prints or 10% all prints (would not include products) or 10% off Mousepads

    Multiple Coupons On One Order
I am not sure if this has been asked. I would really like to allow my clients to order prints without putting in any type of their credit card information. For instance, I would like to give them a $50 off coupon to purchase $50 of any type of prints they want, and free basic shipping. Is there any way to do this?

    Cost Plus Coupon
It would be very useful to have a Cost Plus or Cost+ coupon where we could sell items at smugmug cost plus a desired amount. This would elimnate the problem of dipping below cost of the higher cost items. Any chance of that type in the future?

I was just playing around with coupons and found a bug. If you save a coupon with an expiration date and then go back and edit it to no expiration date, it expires the coupon. I was actually looking to delete my test coupons but see from previous posts that feature is in the works. This works for now but I assume this bug will eventually get fixed.

    coupons- item specific
Thought I'd add my voice to the coupon discussion. First off- THANK YOU!! for coupons, they are great. clap.gif

There are a couple of issues that we run into with our business and using coupons fully that I wanted to throw out there, I imagine other are running into these same things also. ne_nau.gif

Mainly if the coupons could be specific to a product, in order to give a free 8x10 I have to issue a gift card. Which is fine for one print. But if I want to give them a gallery wrap and some prints at my expense I would have to give them a huge gift card, but I cannot keep them from using it on just any product, which could hurt in the end.

I've thought if I could just create a package for them, with a coupon to go with it, that might work also, but then you've got the same sort of situation, where they could use the credit towards anything and not what you're trying to give them.

Some how, if we could have the ability to create a coupon package, that would be WONDERFUL! thanks for all the hard work! wings.gif

    Coupon not used

I just recently set up my first coupon and sent out a PDF to the wedding guests reminding them to use the discount before it expires. I received an order today but they never used the discount. I'm pretty sure it is set up right but if I can't apply the code for them after the fact, is there anything I can do to ensure they can receive the discount, aside from manually reimbursing them later on?

The coupon is set up through an event so I'm not sure if that made a difference or not.

I'm still in the midst of establishing my business and really want to ensure good customer follow through. Any suggestions?
