Ok so I need some help. I have a business account and have made several coupons in the past so I know how to use the option. But I am currently having issues loading the create a coupon window. This issue started after the update. Am I the only one having this issue if so can some one help me work this out please and thank you.
I was curious to see if you had ever gotten a response to your question. I'm banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out or at least find the link! ARGG!
It was easier in the old version. I need to run a coupon for customers ASAP. Hope you got an answer and if you did, please, I beg of you, SHARE it w me!
I'm sure this question was asked somewhere in the 272 posts in this thread, BUT...
is there any way to exclude frames and finishes from coupons? I know we can do it with shipping, why not on things that we can't mark up?
I created a new price list and included these items, but I just remembered why I haven't been offering them...I don't want to pay for the client's frames! Just hoping with the update that there's an update on this that I'm not seeing.
Is it possible for me to create coupons for my clients to download images for free by limiting the number of images?
I was thinking that once we set the PriceList for each image, I should create a coupon base on the cost price x number of images that I intend to give out for free. What other additional cost should I add on so both parties don't have to pay anything?
Regards
Stephen
I have the exact same question. I offer 2 free web-sized digitals with my sessions. I've found it drives sales as they get those to post on Facebook and eventually decide to purchase prints and other digitals.
I'd like to create a coupon that allowed me to give away free XX amount of SPECIFIC product. Is that possible? Is there a workaround? The more difficult the process is for our customers, the less inclined they will be to purchase prints, IMO.

Hi thelincster, I'm very sorry, but coupons are not product specific and what you are asking for is currently not possible. As a workaround, you can inform your customers they will receive two web-sized downloads when they place an order, and then email them those downloads after an order is placed, for example. I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you.

Ana, that still wouldn't work, as it still requires them to contact me to tell me which images they want versus just being able to download their choice. Are there any updates to the coupons feature in the pipeline? It seems like there are things on here that people have been asking for for over a year and still no-go. I had this feature on a competitor's site and loved it, and would like to know if there's a possibility of an update soon or if I need to truly consider another option.
Unfortunately we can't say if it will be incorporated in the future. If a feature has not been implemented it could be due to engineering challenges, legal restrictions or both.
I have some questions about how the coupons work. I'm a little concerned about how they function and there's no real way to test them.
1) If I give a $50 print credit.......
a) What happens if I restrict it to one use? Do they have to use the whole $50 at once? Or can they use $20, then come back for more? It says that each order counts as one use, so I'm assuming they have to use the whole $50 at once and if I set the uses at 2 or more, then they could get $100 or $150 in prints free, correct?
2) How can you delete coupons? I want to delete expired ones.

A print credit works like a gift card. So, if you create a $50 print credit it will be usable until the $50 has been used up. Examples:
1) You give Susie a code for a $50 print credit. She places an order for $10 and then places a second order for $20 each with the code applied. She has used $30 of the $50 print credit. Another $20 is still remaining. She places third order for $30, which exceeds the print credit amount so, $20 is covered by the print credit, she pays the remaining $10 out of pocket.
2) You give Bob a code for a $50 print credit. He places a $50 order with the code applied. The code is used in full and no longer available.
** Print credit coupons still charge the 15% SmugMug mark up. This is another way that print credits work like gift cards. The customer won't see the 15% just as they don't see it in the shopping cart but, we will take 15% of the profit mark up meaning you, the account owner, would owe us more than just the base print prices when using the print credit coupon. **
Now, if you offered a $50 Amount Off coupon that works quite differently. For an amount off coupon you can set how much the coupon is worth so, you can set it for $50 then you will have additional options like Minimum Purchase and Maximum Uses. So, if you wanted to offer $50 when a customer orders at least $200 you would enter $200 in the Minimum Purchase box. If you only want the coupon to be used 1 time you could set a Maximum use of 1. Unlike print credits the amount coupons don't decrease in value so, if you don't set a maximum use number it could be used over and over for up to the full value each time.
downloading suggestions and options
I'm not sure where to put suggestions, but after reading a lot of the information about coupons. I don't think I can do what I need done with SmugMug, right now. It only took me a year paying for the business plan to figure this out.
My suggestions:
- Need a way to allow clients to do full gallery downloads, as well as individual, BUT still offering a way to purchase prints without using the coupon where if they use the coupon for prints instead of a download that you get charged.
- Need a way to allow clients to get X number of free downloads with coupon or some sort of access.
- Even if it's generating a link for a full gallery download, that would be awesome.
I price my photoshoots, right now, with the clients to include downloads. I was planning on giving them access to their galleries to view/share and to get prints through the gallery if they wanted (I get asked for the larger prints, even if they can print it themselves, they want to order through me, why should I turn them away? That's what the gallery should be for.) But instead of sending a CD/DVD through the mail, it would be way easier if I could just send them a link and then they can download the gallery. Yes I can upload to some other service and give them a zip file, but if they have a nice gallery to view and look at while downloading, I would really like that more. And it would still be nice to have the expiration dates like the coupons.
Anyhow, it doesn't sound like I can get what I need right now. Hoping for some updates to the coupons or at least to downloading.
Hi there, I'm wanting to be able to have my customers be able to buy a credit, much like stock sites have. The lack of this is costing me sales as my digital download image customers are often businesses who can't produce a credit card for small purchases and want to lodge an amount to work-off with purchases over time. How can coupons enable this?

You can create a print credit coupon for the customer or business, but you would need to handle the transaction with them directly. They'd pay you a certain amount, you would then create the print credit coupon which allows them to buy downloads or products until the amount on that coupon is all used up.

Wonder,
Can you please elaborate further.? Would the Credit Coupon retain a value and be debited by the Smugmug system? If not, how do they place the order and know their balance?
Is there a way to use coupons to work around the lack of digital download bundling? For example, buy 1 of X (print) , get N of Y (download) either free or xx% off?
Denise,
Ideally, I would like to give away bulk digital web downloads as part of purchase that meets certain criteria of price or specific items. I don't care if this is done by a Package or Coupon.
Examples:
Coupon 1: BUY $25 and receive (XYZ Product/s) for PDQ% OFF/Price. (Digital Web Gallery Download for 100% off or $0).
almost equals
Package 1: $25 for 2x 8x10 prints and (2x 5/7 prints OR 10x 4/6 prints) and Digital Web Gallery Download
I think the current BUY $25 Coupon receive XYZ is closest. It just needs to haveadded a Product Name in addition to the per price or percent off current choices.
ANY IDEAS how to provide the Digital Downloads for FREE DURING THE CUSTOMER PURCHASE upon meeting criteria? (currently all I can do is send them a one-off Free Digital Gallery Download after the fact, which would not be automated. Not feasible.

As far as I know that's the only way to provide free digital downloads from a gallery where you are selling items.
How can I set a coupon for e.g. 5 free digital downloads (so clients can choose themselves which 5 photos they want from session. They pay session fee which include a number of digital files, and if they want more, they can have more for $)... But I would like to limit it to digital files with specific resolutioin only. Which coupon I should choose and what are the settings?
I am very sorry but coupons can not be specified for specific items at this time. If you give your clients a coupon code the code can be used for any items they want in the gallery you have priced to sell.
Print Credit vs. $$ Off Coupon
Does anyone have an opinion on which coupon is best to use? I have a client who is paying for their guests to each get a "Coupon" for $50.00 worth of prints. The prints offered will only be 4x6 @ $1.00 or 5x7 @ $2.00. I am being paid for all up front. If they don't use the coupons within the time allowed I obviously don't get charged. I've used the Print Credit but believe the Print Coupon may be the way to go next time. Thanks! Marc
This might be an old question but I couldn't find an answer on this thread. I am shooting an event soon. I would like to use a coupon code for ANYONE to use for the first 30 days after the event at which time it would expire for everyone. IE ... get you prints soon and save a few bucks. Is it possible to use and hand out one discount code that anyone can use rather than having to give each individual an individual code? Thanks Scooter

I just went in and set up a coupon to see if a single coupon would work for multiple uses. You can set begin and end dates, and you can specify a number of uses (or unlimited). See screen shot below for example.

To delete a coupon - the page at http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/93347-how-do-i-manage-and-use-coupons- includes these instructions: If you don't want the expired coupons to show, make sure that the box "Show Expired Coupons" on the Manage Coupons page is unchecked.

I just created one as a test.
Also for digital downloads I want the customer to pay zero as its a prize. Whats the best coupon for this ?
Otherwise I get them to select a photo and I email it too them. But a coupon would be easier.
