Yes, that is true. I assumed that the sorting was done every time the page loaded (using the SORT function of whatever SQL'ish type database the gallery photos are stored in) rather than being sorted once when the gallery settings were selected. Either way, it's fixed (yay)!

One other question while I'm at it (I tried searching on this thread but I didn't see if this was asked/mentioned/answered):

Does searching work on collected galleries?

In my gallery that contains collected images I tried searching for a keyword but I received no search results. I tried searching for terms that were in the caption as well with no luck. If I go to the original gallery and try the same search I get results, as expected.

At about 5 this afternoon I tried to use the new Collect feature in a gallery while using Firefox. When I clicked to select a gallery, I got one of those messages that asked if I wanted to continue running script. Ever since then, using Firefox, all of my galleries are just showing up on the left side of the screen, home page as well. I'm getting the same thing when I go visit anyone else's smugmug site.

Is this happening anywhere else? Can anyone out there using Firefox see my pages OK?

All is well in IE, except the slideshow of course, which uses a different version of flash...

FF does that at times, just needs a cache flush usually....

The one question I do have however is whether there is a way to disable the "See photo in original gallery" link?

    Any ideas?

Perhaps this got lost in the other discussions or nobody knows how to do it.

Does anybody know if there is any easy way to turn the "original gallery" link off as I can see my customers getting confused by this and I would like them to stay in the gallery where they are seeing the virtual copy and not worrying about where it came from.

If no easy way, I will just try and hide it via a javascript customisation.

Very nice new features. I have been meaning to reorganize my SM site for, oh, about four years now but it always seemed like more trouble than it was worth. This is going to make the task much easier. clap.gif

Just to clarify one point: manual arrangement in collections is not possible. This is not considered a bug, but may be added in a future release. Correct? FWIW, no manual arrangement is a deal breaker for me.

    Stats?
I've searched the thread and don't see any discussion regarding stats. If I post an image on a forum using the link from the virtual copy, does the original image get hit with stat counts?

Right now collected photos can't be arranged manually. Auto sort, in gallery settings, yes.

Without a link to the particular page you want to do this on, I can't tell for sure, but this CSS works in a keyword gallery. If this doesn't work, then post a link to your specific page you want this on.

Can't use "Send and email" with Smart Galleries
Just tried to use the Share Button to "Send and email" in a Smart Gallery and got the following message:

Sorry, that image doesn't seem to be shareable

I guess you can't use "Send an email" with Smart Galleries headscratch.gif

Thanks for the quick response Andy,

It doesn't seem to work with any image in a Smart Gallery when I click on "Send an email" using the share button, if I go to the original image it lets me "Send an email" but that's not what I want to do, I want to send an email from my Smart Gallery so that when they open the email and click on the image it will take them to the Smart Gallery.

I tried it with a couple of Smart Galleries.

Here's the link to one of my Smart Galleries where the Send an Email feature doesn't work

FYI, Andy and Ron, the share button is hidden with CSS so one not logged in can't see it in that smart gallery. I temporarily bypassed the CSS so I could see the share button and confirmed that I got the same error Ron did.

we're working on adding this ability - it does not work with Smart Galleries today, hopefully it'll be added very soon - it's high on our list.

I forgot you have uber powers!

If the Share button doesn't work in virtual galleries, shouldn't it be removed until you do allow it to work?

Are the smart gallery Match Rules working correctly?

Maybe I'm confused, but the Any or All ("toggle to match Any or All of your Rules") function seems to be backwards, at least in the case of an Include/Exclude pair I tried. I interpreted them in Boolean terms, with All representing the intersection, and Any representing the union. For example: To (1) Include photos taken between date X and Y but (2) Exclude those in a particular gallery, I expected to need an All match, but Any is what worked.

P.S. Note the "Exlcude" typo in the first drop-down box.

That seems to work in the gallery view, but doesn't remove the message from the LightBox. Any ideas? Thanks!

What I've done is to add a 3 digit number to the start of the caption (in the order I want the pics to be) then sort by caption. It is a bit painful, but gets the job done.

Okay, I can now confirm that some changes in a physical library are not showing up in the virtual libraries.

    Example:

    http://sv-jedi.smugmug.com/Albums/Panama/11085255_eCNP9#774163767_LzNvN

This one was first build with
    - include keyword "panama"
    - exlcude (sic) keyword "a quantum solace"
    - exlcude (sic) keyword "projects"

however, the photo's with the keyword "a quantum solace" showed up anyway. That is a bug I reported earlier after checking it with another set of keywords over different physical galleries.

To work around it, I deleted the virtual gallery, added the keyword "bond" to all photo's with keyword "a quantum solace" and created a new virtual gallery with:
    - include keyword "panama"
    - exlcude (sic) keyword "bond"
    - exlcude (sic) keyword "projects"

At that point in time the new keyword was still being indexed. Now, it is indexed for some hours I guess but the photo's are still in the virtual gallery. I am sure that deleting it and recreating with the same rules solves the problem because I tested that.

I also replaced a photo that had a rendering-error. The old photo showed up for a long time although it wasn't in the physical gallery anymore. Then at some point I noticed a "deleted" placeholder instead of the thumbnail and now I found the new photo there. So replacing photo's works, albeit very slow.

hope this helps, I'll leave the gallery linked above until tomorrow morning so you can check it out.

    cheers,
    Nick.
    ciao!

    Andy, can you explain this:
Warning: This is a collected copy from another gallery. Replacing it will replace all copies, including the original photo.
I received it tonight when replacing a photo in an order today.

My concern is that I turned off the whole smart collections thing via the control panel Wednesday morning so there shouldn't be any collected copies, right? eek7.gif

I need to investigate collections further before turning it on and really wish you would make new stuff like this off by default when you release it. (yeah yeah, I lock down too much...)

Yeah, though if the original is sorted manually you could probably keep the arrangements straight. You would have strange looking captions in the original galleries.

Nah, too kludgy and laborious to maintain. rolleyes1.gif
