I have found that with A2.0 that it does not give me an indicator the export is working or how much is left to go. I did not even realize the import was running until I went to close A2.0 and it cautioned me that an export was running.

Also my macbook pro goes to sleep while the export is running which kills the export. I am not sure if this is beacuse it is in the background or what.

I love this plug in and would love to have it running in the background but I think it needs to give the same information as if I was exporting a project to a folder on the harddrive.

Thanks for creating a great add on

Unfortunately Aperture 2.0 disables the export options while a pending export is in progress. So exporting to multiple galleries at the same time will not be possible.

Sorry about that, it is a bug in Aperture. They said they have "fixed this for a
    future release."

Yeah, ran into this over the weekend. Realized that I had accidentally selected the wrong upload folder, and had no way to cancel it. :(

Aperture 2 seems to have broken the export plug-in
I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing a broken export plug-in while using Aperture 2?

The plug-in is still there under file>export>aperture to smugmug. The plug-in can be invoked, and I hit "export" and I assume it is working in the background. I wait 2 hours for 25 photos. Nothing gets exported.

When I try to quit Aperture, Aperture tells me that it is exporting and asks me if I want to stop the exporting process. I tell Aperture to go ahead and quit. Aperture gets locked and then I have to force quit. This has happened 3 times.

Is it working for anyone else on Aperture 2?

    Same troubles here
I started an upload about half an hour ago, but nothing has appeared in SmugMug yet, and nothing seems to be happening in Aperture.

I hope that this very useful plug-in can be made to work with Aperture 2.0. I got pretty dependent on in it before upgrading Aperture!

Strange, it's worked flawlessly for me (except for the lack of status info - which apparently is an Aperture bug).

having better luck now. . .
I just tried uploading a single image, and it worked fine. Maybe I wasn't being patient enough before? I'll try a batch upload now and see if they get through.

I love this plug-in, but I wish Apple would bring back feedback!

    Twenty minutes later:

It's working fine now. I think the problem was with me, not with the plug-in. . . I just wasn't being patient enough.

Well in fact it is working in the background but it is true that nothing is diplayed.

But.... but... Now Aperture 2.0.1 is out and now it is really broken! If I try to export more than one photo it crash Aperture!!! I tried again and again with different photos and project, always the same result.
It is working with a single photo but not more.
Other export plugin seems to work well.

    I am using v0.28.

    Anybody else with the problem?

OK, so when I restarted Aperture 2.0.1 and tried to upload using ApertureToSmugMug, Aperture repeatedly crashed as you reported, without even uploading a single photo.

I poked around in the Library and found that the plugin had gone missing from Aperture's Export Plugin folder. (/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/Export) I tried re-installing ApertureToSmugMug but for some reason OS X wasn't asking me to Authenticate, and after I "re-installed" the plugin, it still was crashing.

So, I opened the contents of the plugin package (right-click, Show Package Contents), and then inside of the package, there is a folder called Resources. Open this folder and double-click ApertureToSmugMug-0.28.pax.gz. Inside of that file, you will see a folder called "Contents". Inside that folder, there is the export plugin (ApertureToSmugMug.ApertureExport). Copy the plugin to /Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/Export, Authenticate, and you should be back in business.thumb.gif

    Hope this helps.

    Yikes!
Wow! I am impressed with your ingenuity. I might just wait for an update, though.

Hey--this might be a dumb question, but is there a way to make a payment to the creator of this plug-in? I don't even recall where I downloaded it, but it's an important tool for me, and I feel it's only fair to pay something for my daily use of it.

I followed your instruction, and first there was no authentication requested when I copy the file. I tried to export again with the same result: Aperture crash.
Then I found that there is another ApertureToSmugMug plugin but inside ~/Library....
    I deleted it. Same result.
Then using the Terminal, I went to the plugin directory and changed the permission of all files of the ApertureToSmugMug plugin to reflect the other plugins in the directory.
    Again same result!

    I just tried somethign else:

I simply deleted all plugins copies in both /Library... and ~/Library...
Then I re-installed it using the original package.

    Still crashing.....

    Hi,

Thanks for developing the great plug-in for Aperture:)

I have been using v0.28 previously without any issue with my MBPro and Aperture v1.5.6.

However, now when I try to export images, the keywords are not being exported with them into smugmug.

Under Aperture>Presets>Export Images> I have ticked the "include metadata" box. When it logs into the smugmug page, all the keywords are actually there, but once the image appears in my gallery, the keywords don't show UNLESS I go through each photo one by one, click on "edit" next to the "keywords" text below the photo. The keywords then all show up in the edit box, and only when I click SAVE do they then appear under the photo.

Is there a way to make them appear immediately under all photos rather than have to go through each photo one by one?

    Thanks!

    Nelson

Sorry guys, been very busy and only had a bit to research the problem. It is indeed crashing for me with 2.01 also. I'll try to find a fix before my trial period ends.

As for install permissions, the plugin is installed to your home library directory so no authentication is needed. If you are having trouble reinstalling you might need to remove the installed package from ~/Library/Receipts.

I too am getting Aperture Crash...
I wanted to chime in and see if there was a fix. I am running Aperture 2.0.1 and each time i select a photo or group of photos to export with plug-in i get a closing of aperture. I have tried different galleries, different projects and different amounts of photos. Result = Aperture crash.

I even downloaded the last plugin and the result is the same.

Anyone figured out how to fix? I am in love with my little plug-in and can't live without it.

You've developed a fantastic plugin – creating a seamless integration with Aperture was actually one of the reasons that it made affected my decision to to join up with Smugmug.

Have you read this? Smugmug provides lifetime free Pro accounts to developers.
    http://blogs.smugmug.com/don/2007/04/20/lifetime-free-pro-accounts-to-developers/

I think you'd certainly be a worthy candidate seeing as all your hard efforts have saved a lot of time for so many of us:) It'd be worth asking about it.

By the way, the bug has since disappeared, so it seems to be an erratic occurrence. All the keywords are working fine again now for me.

    Thanks!

Aperture is still crashing randomly...and it asked me to Authenticate when I deleted the old ApertureToSmugMug plugin, but not when I installed the new one.headscratch.gif

I dunno what's going on but I'll write back if it keeps crashing.thumb.gif

Seems that the 0.29 package is bad.
    Nothing is installed.
The installer said it is a success, but nothing can be found in
    /Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/Export
    or
    ~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/Export

If I open the package and unachive "Archive.pax.gz", I can see a "ApertureToSmugMug" binary (in/Contents/MacOS), but copying it to the Export directory does not work neither....
