Did you win the trophy too? If so, congrats.

I've never tried autocross. I bet it's more fun than a barrel of

I don't autocross because I really don't think it's fun. It's not racing until the average speeds are over 100mph.

I like it because it really tests out your skills. Plus, its near impossible to get hurt or ruin a car which is great for me.

Oh and yes I won the trophy, it's sitting right next to me :D

Congrats on the win. I can't wait to get my car back together for racing, but i don't think it's going to happen this summer :(. With my regular workload and helping out at my friends parents company on weekends cause she and her husband can't anymore, plus spending time with my new gf clap.gifclap.gif , yeah my poor car will have to wait a bit.

I wanna try autox this summer nod.gif

    Well done, Zac thumb.gif

I was a good little wrench yesterday and changed my bike's sneakers to a more summer appropriate tread pattern. And I finally overcame my unfounded tire-changing fear and did it all by myself. No more paying $60 to have it done.

I swear i've posted a photo of it before:

very old photo, from my first ride with it - felt nostalgic today :D

BTW, can anyone identify the "structure" in the background on the other bank of the photo? It really dates this shot...

Thats a nice bike. When I turn 21 I'm "allowed" to have a motorcycle.

I think I'll pick up a nice K1000 if I can find one for a decent price. I've heard they are good starter bikes.

How do you change a tire yourself if assuming it's not a tubed tire? Don't you need one of those big machines and a balancer?

Easy, with tire levers and a bit of skill. Yes, tubeless are a bit harder, since the bead is harder to break, but it's not magic.

    Balancing is for pansies. :D

(no, seriously, once it's done once to account for the wheel, it's not all that important, tires are so even these days)

If you're old enough to drive, you're allowed to have a motorcycle...just not by your parents umph.gif
Thought I consider you lucky. I'm never allowed to ride, though my dad did for many years when he was young.

Meh I'd rather be safe with 4 wheels for now. I'm not a good enough driver to have a motorcycle yet.

How old are you anyway Richard?

I'm with you on the first part (well not just now but forever, I really don't feel the need to risk falling, which isn't too bad, and then being run over, which is too bad), but I do want to learn just to know.

20...will be 21 one week before the new year.

Also, an addition to stuff to drive too...much of the stuff by the Kinks is pretty good for pushing your foot further and further.

    You're a new years baby?

Oh...and while I'm mentioning my age, my car, that 1985 380SE, was bought by my dad (with no intention of keeping it this long) for my mom when I was born, i.e. it came home when I came home...well I think it's cool anyways :uhoh

Motorcycles are pretty safe when you learn how to ride them. But unlike a
car, you cannot let your attention wander--even for a minute. Otherwise
the betty in the car next to you (putting her makeup on or talking on the
phone) will run you over and not even know it. DAMHIK.

Personally, I think everyone should learn how to ride one so they'll be aware
    of them on the road.

Or get a commercial drivers license. I got licensed as a bus driver while I was an undergrad - best part time job, ever! - and the training made me a much better driver all around. When you have a bus full of people, and 17 tons of bus to deal with through a very busy campus, you MUST be aware of everything! Not to mention the training is a full time 4 week affair - you are forced to learn better awareness. I've always thought American driver standards were ridiculously low in terms of the amount of training you need. I have a cousin in Vienna who been trying to get licensed for years now - it's not a "right" its a skill and privilege, I think we get taht mixed up here in the states (another rant, sorry).

As for motorcycles, I've been riding since I was 12, 10? not sure now. There's a lot to be said for starting very young and learning the riding part of the skill set in safe/closed environments. Not being intimidated by the riding part let me focus all my energy on the awareness and traffic part of the skill set when I first ventured onto the street - and it did help that by then I already had the above mentioned CDL.

Since we have a resident BMW-head here, I figured this would be a good place to ask: does anybody know of a place with archives of the BMW films? I found most of them on limewire, but not all of them, and BMW doesn't offer them for download any longer.

Yeah, on my DVD shelf. Let me see if my dad has anymore extras (dealers got boxes full of them)...

If not, I'd be happy to let you borrow my copies.

edit: it's just a copy, not copies, I didn't realize that the DVD for the "second" season actually has all 8 films on it. So it seems my copy of the first season is redundant, but I have that too.
