    So I've got to ask the question:

    How could SmugMug move to square thumbnails WITHOUT providing their users a quick and easy way to change their thumbs? It is almost as if someone up at SmugMug assumed that everyone was doing landscape photography and forgetting that some of us do people/sports/animals and their face or the point of focus isn't going to be in the center of the photo.

    Right now I have hundreds of thumbs that focus on someone's belt or waist...thanks for the square thumbs, but if you guys don't fix this soon, I'll have to go back to the crappier looking regular thumbs, which I really don't want to do.

    I have actually done some development to address this issue, but it's been delayed by some other projects I've been working.

    Thank you Dev. I've been hopeful since you were added to the paid staff that you would get this type of bulk zoom into the SM code.
    Thanks for the update.
    As I posted earlier, I'm sure SM has you locked in the cellar writing code 24/7.

    Typically, I don't work on front end/UI code. The stuff I have been working on, would potentially remove the need for an in-built bzt.

    As long as I can get the square thumbs done in bulk and looking as I choose, any method will be great

    With all due respect, you really didn't. I've posted on this a few times. I'm thrilled to hear that things are still progressing, but it's really frustrating that you think the existing solution (hack aside) is anything close bulk cropping thumbnails.

    It's an incremental step. And we'll have something cooler in the future.

    I've replaced the BZT code in my customizations but cannot get the 'bzt' button to appear. Wondering if anyone has an idea what could be wrong?ne_nau.gif

    Thank you very much for getting it working again. As a game developer, I know exactly how it is to have a bunch of rabid fans screaming their heads off at you wanting everything right now...so I apologize if we all scream too much...we're just rabid fans!

    First, to David: you rock. Just found this today and it's already clear it will save me hours of re-do after the SM re-apply watermark ickiness destroyed my lovely thumbnails.

    Second, to SM: +1 for this being a full-fledged feature. Oh, the time hassle that square thumbnails currently are.

    smughack: bulk zoom thumbnail (super deluxe version) IS DEAD?

    With recent infrastructure updates, we have removed an endpoint the BZT depended on. Effective immediately current implementations will no longer work. We apologize for the last minute notice.

    I hope there is a similar version as a built in function SOON to be released. Don't just say "we have a method already" because the current SM method takes forever when you're dealing with a large number of pics and centering the crop is not the optimal look.

    I just used it today. In Smugmug style I do one page at a time. Worked fine
    and took as long as it ever had saving.

    If this has been disabled later today it would be a catastrophe adding days of work to every gallery.
