Not only is that really, really old, it's also really inaccurate. Sometimes inaccurate is funny. In this case it's just stupid, IMO.

Does anyone, besides me, use the "windows based boxes" anymore? Don't you think when the user base for Apple grows closer in size to the windows base that these idiot hackers will focus on attacking them too?

I do, all day. And even in the evning for my photo work too. But perhaps not for very much longer.

Sure, and same with Linux. Attackers will come (and a few already have) but they're finding that Unix, Linux and OS X were built with a bit more security thought up-front. It's a generalization but easily said that Microsoft made* things easy for users by leaving the doors wide open. Apple makes things easy for users while still limiting what can be done to them.

    * I use past tense because Microsoft has made a lot of changes in their internal processes and we don't know really how secure Vista will really be.

I don't think it has anything to do with computer performance. It's a psychological thing.

Mac owners belong to a tiny minority and they know it. They feel threatened by the tsunami of Windows. And so they fight back by evangelizing the Mac. It's a natural behavior. Most of us tend to defend the products that we use, unless those products really betray us.

The Mac vs Windows thing is just a pronounced example of the behavior, exacerbated by the Mac's fractional status.

I am bi-techsual. I use PC and Mac. At one of the companies I used to work for I was head PC and head Mac tech. They are both reliable, and they are both problematic. Neither is better, neither is worse. It is all about personal prefference. Hackers and virus writers are already focusing on macs and have been for years. Maybe not to the degree of PC's before but they are working on getting there. Hackers, script kiddies, and virus writers have focused on pc's, macs, linux boxes (rare but it has happened), cell phones, pda's, etc. No technology is safe, no technology is truly superior, no technology is secure.

Any argument you make one way can be aruged the other way. It's like nikon vs canon, chocolate vs vanilla, corona vs bud (bud sucks), vodka vs sake. Pick your flavor and run with it.

I really need to edit these for grammer and mis-spelled words before i post them :(

I do. I am a network admin by trade, I have too. However in my laptop bag you will only find Macs, yes two of them, and my house, only an intel based Linux box. I work on Winblows systems all day long so when I go home I just want my stuff to work. I could argue the windows mac thing all day long but why? If someone likes what they have let them keep it, besides as long as there is winblows I will have more work than I can do. When I want it to work no hastle, I use Linux, when it absolutly has to work all the time, Mac, and Winblows, well, it keeps food on my table, motorcycles and cars in my drive and cameras in my bag, the work with MS related problems just never ends. That said there is some software out on the PC that isn't on the mac, Star explorer for example. :cry

Thanks for the reply, I feel better.

I have us setup on windows at work and have 4 window's boxes at home so I guess I've picked my poison. Just didn't want to keep saddling a dead horse (although I didn't think PC's were doomed yet)

MS Windows as it is known is dead, Mac/Linux is the future, but it will be awhile.

:splat Maybe the transition will be painless (invisible). My biggest problem (expense) would be migrating software to a different platform, that is of course assume programs would operate substantially the same.

When I say awhile I mean a few years, your systems will be old and dying and the software you want will be there on linux by the time windows finaly goes down the hole.
