1: Advertising: Photograph a subject and place a slogan inside the pic, could be the original slogan, or could be one you made up.
2: Captions: Photograph something and place a caption inside photo, could be serious or could be funny. Could be an original slogan put in funny context acording to the photo.
How about the opposite of Challenge 71 -- "Stillness." If we wanna get real tricky, do the same subject of Challenge 71 that you did, but still...no motion.

How about a 2-photo contest. Same subject, but opposite (in some way).
One still, one in motion. One lighted, one as siloette. Objective is to achieve the best photo possible both ways.
That way people who didn't participate on 71 can still play.
OK...I don't really have time to go back thru this thread to see if this idea has been offered up before, BUT....how about shots that are, "AMUSING"; i.e. unusual or funny shots that makes us chuckle or laugh. Entry that causes us to laugh the loudest -WINS-
The time you enjoy wasting, is not wasted time.

Camera phones take lousy pics, and all photographers may not have camera phones. So not such a good idea. And almost impossible to judge. What would be the subject. People with better camera phones will do better here. In case of camera 90% of the input is from the people, not the equipment, but in case of camera phones considering they types of camera phones out there, there is going to be a huge variace.
Such a challenge has no place on a photography website.
Mwgrice's suggestion about telephone poles, power lines, cell towers made me think of "infrastructure" as a theme.
We often think of these things as ugly obstructions. But some could have interesting form and/or color. Some infrastructure, such as lighthouses, has even graduated into attractive parts of the scenery.
I know some of these will be duplicates... (great minds think alike? )

Pardon me if this idea has already been brought up in this thread.
How about a contest capturing photography?
The act of "getting the shot"?
Just a thought.

I think bizzare words make for good challenges, so...
Multifaceted
Disambiguous
onomatopoeia
oxymoron
synchronicity
synesthesia
These challenges make half the fun being learning, and interpreting the word, and then being creative enough to capture it's essence.

Telephone poles.
Power lines.
Cel phone towers.
To be a little more general: obstructions.
Could have some interesting results...

I also saw an interesting thread of landscapes without the sky showing- made for some interesting compositions. Might make a good challange also.
