I'm striking out trying to see both Purified's and MissConduct's shots. I've tried cutting and pasting the URLs, but they can't be found.
It's you, waxy. I've had no problems seeing either of those shots. But then again, I'm on a superior computing platform.

Garp's self portrait
I, unlike others have a plethora of self portraits, not because of vanity (well maybe a little) but because I love portrait shots and have a lack of willing subjects.
Any comments good, bad, or UGLY(Ack), are welcome.
i'm really happy with this picture, it's become kind of logo of sorts for my site, binghott.com. and i think it qualifies as a self portrait, then again, maybe it doesn't.
This is me
...in my garden with my dogs.
I don't think it has to be a "self portrait" it's just supposed to "show us your mug". Andy's pic was taken by a friend. Mine was taken by my husband.
You guys are missing the point. There's something special about taking your own portrait (self-portrait). Anybody can take a photo of you, but only you can do the hard bit about choosing how you want to be shown and editing the image. It's not that we don't want to see your handsome visages, but that we want YOU to take them yourselves.
self-por·trait: n. A pictorial or literary portrait of oneself, created by oneself.
so...keep trying.
BTW, I merged the two "show us your mug" threads.

Self Portrait
Ok, here it is, a real "self portrait". See, I'm holding my camera up to the mirror.
This is the first time I've shown my mug here. At least I'm not like Sid, showing some movie star in my place.
How about it Sid? Let's see the real you.
Nice to meetcha. We've seen your avatar tho...is that not you? BTW, I made some corned beef yesterday that was killer! I think I'm going to make some more this weekend. I think I told you we made the big meatballs and they were great!

Here's one of my favorite self-portraits of waxy. Please note that this was taken well before he could even spell "pohotoshop", so I made some very subtle touchups. Almost imperceptible, really.

Hi Fish,
Yeah, that was me in the avatar, but it was done with an artistic effect filter, cutout, I think. Anyway, it was not a "true to life" image. It just had blocks of color. I made a new avatar with my first "in the mirror" shots. Camera covered my face, but it was a natural, unretouched picture. These last two are natural photos with gausian blur used on the background. Taken in natural window light, by me, and I confess to the use of a little bit of healing tool. That big smile causes more crows feet than I can bear to look at. Smile. (Darn, I just got a new firewall program and it's not letting my smilies work.) Aaaak, new programs make me scream. So anyway, now you know what I look like, really.
Mmmm, the corned beef sounds great. Glad you liked the meatballs too. I made a big pot of chili last week. Had to put some in the freezer, there was so much. This weather has really been making me crave comfort food. I also made beef stew the week before last. Oh yeah, and I made 15 bean soup with ham recently too. I put a can of diced tomatoes and chopped carrots in that. Have you tried that? Very good! I didn't make anything good this weekend. We went out to dinner on Sat.
Hi Sid,
Thanks for the picture. I'll have to confess that after all the teasing back and forth, I still didn't believe that was you. In any case, your face is still covered with shaving cream. That might still be Mel Gibson behind all the bubbles. [smile] Wish my smilies would work. Somehow, I guess I always thought you looked like your avatar. Hee hee. What's with all the secrecy anyway?
