Firefox 3.5 was just released and SmugBrowser 0.5.8 is marked as incompatible with Firefox 3.5 I don't know if there's actually a compatibility issue or not, but Firefox won't let it be enabled (probably because it isn't marked for compatibility with 3.5).
Is there a newer version of SmugBrowser that will work with Firefox 3.5? Or is someone going to update SmugBrowser to work with Firefox 3.5?
Add me to the interested list as well.
I depend on Smugbrowser, so I can't upgrade to FF 3.5 until Smugbrowser is updated.
1. Search for a folder on your computer called "{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}"
2. In that folder, there should be an install.rdf file
3. Open the install.rdf in a text editor.
4. There should be a line like this... em:maxVersion="3.0.*"
5. Change it to... em:maxVersion="3.5.*"
6. Save the file
7. Restart Firefox

On Vista, I can find that directory in c:\users\John\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Extensions but the directory is empty.
I ended up searching for all install.rdf files and eventually found the one for SmugBrowser in a directory C:\Users\John\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\27okt123.default\extensions\{FBD8D33E-0FF7-4a71-BE2F-FD0B6F3C64A9} and that one had the maxVersion thing in it. Changing that and restarting Firefox did not enable SmugBrowser. I'm unsure what I did wrong.

try...
1. Close Firefox
2. Delete compreg.dat and xpti.dat from C:\Users\John\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\27okt123.default\
3. Restart Firefox
1. Download the .xpi (it's a zip file)
2. Edit the install.rdf (as per the previous post)
3. Install the xpi file
I am having the same difficulties in being able to apply the change (had to find the file on my own since I didn't look here first, doh!). Still, after making the edit and restarting FF there was no change.
I see your instructions above ... but where do I find this .xpi file?
Can you repost the ZIP file link? I cannot find it.

I followed the instructions and made a new XPI from the 0.5.8 version.
This version works on my computer running XP SP3 and Firefox 3.5.
Hope this helps everyone.

Anyone else not able to see the following in v0.5.8beta
Protected:? Yes: No:
I've checked under all the tabs when doing bulk updates. I thought it would be located in the security & privacy tab, but I don't see it.
Can anyone else confirm if this is missing from 0.5.8 or just something on my end.
Thanks..
Just curious if a solution was found to this? I'm having the same difficulty & can't seem to find that option at all (ever) in SmugBrowser. Is it maybe a function of what account level a person has?
For those who don't know, to install the above xpi, download the file open it using Firefox. It should install into firefox and you're good to go.
Thanks. I forgot to say that when I posted up the download.

Actually thank you I have 2000+ proofs to manage into multiple galleries, and this makes it much easier. I'm running Firefox 3.5 and Windows 7 and it is working perfectly.
P.S from what I've read in the forums, using Smugbrowser is the only way to rename non-Smugmug definied Subcategory names...unless there's another way that I am not aware of? If so, please let me know so that I don't have to keep trying to get Smugbrowser to work. (Not sure why we can't rename a subcategory name that we have defined directly from Smugmug itself...)

No need to go to SmugBrowser to rename a subcategory. To rename a subcategory that you created, just go to your control panel, click on the customize tab, click on the subcategories link and go to the rename section:
Thanks so much as always, John (and the quick reply!). I read in quite a few threads that Smugbrowser was the only way to do it, but I'm glad you pointed out the simpler method for me now.

2. Edit the install.rdf (as per the previous post)
3. Install the xpi file

What should I do? I found the folder {ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384} but there were no files in it. I had show hidden everything turned on and was logged on as administrator. The add-on for SmugBrowser still shows in Firefox as available only for a prior version. (I did have it installed on the prior version.) Thanks.

FYI, I renamed the two files with a .bak extension rather than delete them and Firefox created new ones the next time it started.

Hi,
I've tried to download versions 0.5.8 and 0.5.9 multiple times and opening it with Firefox but keep getting this error after installation:

Was able to easily delete a bunch of improperly imported galleries that Smugglr fouled up. Now trying Migratr. Thanks for a useful add-on!

There is a colour management bug in FF3.5. Has it been resolved yet? That's the only reason for sticking with the older version.
Rgds
Patrick
How do you define 'bug' ?
The operation of the colour management in FF changed between FF3.0 and FF3.5, but I wouldn't necessarily call it a bug.
