I updated the first post. Registration is on hold, while I suss out the lodging situation. We're not full, but we're getting close, and I don't want to be giving out spots we don't have.

Good grief! You guys are moving fast. I'm very interested--and the location is someplace I've been wanting to get back to (including the Mesa Verde possibility--loved staying there). Gotta check with the wife to see if she has interest (she is well-trained to deal with photograper's foibles). We are pretty flexible on lodging& could make out own arrangements if need be-she has connections. I just wanna go. :uhoh

I agree totally, - common dgrin, & smugmug, give us a clue as to whether you would support this at a future date.

    Room rates:

Just an FYI, the rates in the first post are the book rates, not the discounted rates that we will be getting. The discount isn't ginormous, it's around 10%, depending on the room.

Maybe we could just have a DIY shootout.

I hear rumors, though, that there might be a workshop over there soon. A little bird from Souther CA whispered it in my ear and asked me to be patient.

Woo Whooo. My first shootout! clap.gif

Nik, DaveV, Jim, Jack, (and others)

I live in Phoenix and would like to do a pre shoot as well. I will be off the whole week so starting Sat (4th) or Sun (5th) before would be great!

I can rent a van or SUV if everyone wants to chip in for van and gas. I'll even pick people up from the airport and drop you back off. mwink.gif

I am thinking Page- Monument Valley- Goosenecks.

That's great! It would be very nice to see you in person! thumb.gif
We have a little time still to plan this whole thing. mwink.gif
Jack, Skippy, me and few other guys did the whole south Lake Powel trip (from Page to Moab) last year fter the main shootout. We missed the Wave, though :cry

Wave is tough because of Permits. This Gentleman is great to work with and knows the Page area very well- he also has access to a lot of places most people do not get to see. We could do a special trip with him through Overland Canyon tours if people are interested.

    We could go another route-
Tonto Natural Bridge- Painted Desert- Petrified Forest- Canyon de Chelly

Lots of options! I will be scouring my topo maps and the web rolleyes1.gif

Yeah, tell me about it. We were trying to get the permit last year. They were gone like in two minutes...

Your local guide idea sound iteresting. And the alternative route sounds great, I always dreamed of getting the sunrise/sunset from the bottom of Canyon De Chelly. Can he get us there? I'm OK with camping a night or two...

    David,
when you get a moment, maybe you can bold the names that have already confirmed, so we have a single point to see who's coming for sure?
    Thanks!

I've updated Andy's post with who's in on this trip.

I also noted those who expressed interest in the climbing part. If you are interested, and I don't have you down for it, please let me know. Or vice versa, if those pictures scared you off! :D

Theres still room for climbing too! I see we might have to work on talking a few into it. ;) Right now we have 4 it looks like and although thats plenty for us to come down and give it a whirl we would still like to see atleast double that....at the very least! ;)

My friend Matt/mANVIL who is registered for the shootout (though rarely posts here) is 10000% for climbing and slacklining, though he might have not mentioned it during registration. I'll :poke him about that.

That would make 5 for you, Kelsey! :D
