    yea, and I'm still waiting for them to send me my record player for sending all those box tops :D...um...that was like over 40 years ago.

    SmugMug Rules !!!!! This week my camera strap arrived - as did some stickers - on the same day.

    WOOT!!

    I've got to say that it's a REALLY nice strap. You can tell a pro picked it out. I have the stock straps and the Domke Gripper strap. And this one is definately tops in my book!


    BTW: Does this mean you can't say you've never spent any money on marketing? :D

    Thanks soooo much! What a wonderful strap and a great community! There would have been pics of the stickers but they didn't come with the strap. Wahhhh!

    OK, I was trying to be a good soldier and not bother you, but I got my Smuggie stickers weeks and weeks ago, but still no strap. I wouldn't have said anything except I just saw a post in which someone was exulting that they got their strap and stickers together. Makes me wonder if my strap request went walkabout???

    I never got my stickers either.
    But I'm TOATLLY stoked to have the strap.

    So I'm not even worried about the stickers...

    Actually, we spend quite a bit of money on marketing (that's my regular job, outside of being the Czar of straps/stickers).

    To everyone: I'm out of town for a week, so I will have to check on individual orders when I get back.

    Stickers and straps ship separately and we are focusing mostly on straps right now.

    To give you an idea of our progress so far:

    Total straps ordered: 15,000 (one batch of 5,000 and one of 10,000)
    Total straps given out: About 8,100.

    Huh? Sorry then, I must be confused. I thought I saw a few web video interviews where Don M said they have never spent any money on marketing.

    Oh well, I've been wrong before..:D

    Let's see.... so we're not quite like Nike or Microsoft, but here are just some of the things we do:

    * Trade Shows

    * Advertising in targeted places

    * Google and Yahoo search ads

    * Photo Contests - Last Photographer Standing is a huge spend for us! And we sponsored the major Photo of the Year contests at Popular Photography and American Photo Magazines.

    * Various internet forum promotions

    * Annual Dgrin Shootouts. Yosemite, Bryce & Zion, Glacier, this year Arches/Moab.

    * And erem.... Straps.

    All this being said our best marketing department is our Customers :DOur referral program works wonderfully and is a huge source of new customers for us thumb.gif

    I just got my strap yesterday! It is soooo cool! thumb.gif. I like it so much better than any other strap I've ever used!

    Well you already know by the culture you guys n gals have created in these forums that your referral program is a smash hit!

    I wasn't trying to rain on any parades. I was just thought I remembered seeing something like that recently. That doesn't mean the video wasn't created a long time ago. :D
