Played with Safari again last night. I like the way it scrolls.
But there doesn't seem to be a way to discretely control pop-ups. If I want too accept PM's, then it looks like I have to accept all pop-ups.
I don't see a Safari equivalent to the Firefox tool which allows you to specifiy which sites are allowed to pop-up.
This can be done with Pith Helmet, which I mentioned above. Since you're not on Leopard yet, you could try it. But yes, it's not a feature built-in to Safari. With PH, you can set your ad blocking prefs on a per site basis.

Mate that leopard spanks vista site has 100% frozen my mac...whats up ? is it a joke site or something ? My mouse moves but it will not do anything at all.

You've restarted the Mac? Or restarted Safari?
I just switched the comp off at its on/off button (twice) Whilst my mouse moves freely it will not do anything thus i cant force shut-down etc. Man i told you i can break anything !
The mouse will highlight the expand/reduce/close buttons (red/yellow/green buttons on the top left) as i move it over them...it simply wont do anything with them.

Before shutting off the computer, always try Command-Tab to get to another application first, or try using the dock to switch away. Rarely does the entire OS lock up completely. It is usually just one app that is hung.
If one app is hung, you can force-quit just that one (Command-Option-Esc).
If you must do a hard shut down, do it the same way as on many PCs: Hold the power button down several seconds until it goes off.

Tks mate...i was wondering about that as both times i shut it off for a few mins & when i restarted , it came back to that page immediately (2 seconds) telling me it wasnt really shut down at all.

One thing I would recommend is downloading and installing AppleJack. It's the idiot's best friend to repairing any problems your Mac may be having. I'm not saying that you need it now, but it's a great thing to have in your back pocket. It's not a normal application. Once installed you do the following to run it:
1) restart, and after the chime hold down command-s until you see text appear, at which time you let go.
2) once it's started up, type "applejack auto restart", and get a cup of coffee while it runs. When it's done, it will restart your computer.
That's it. It runs 5 different things that will clear up 99% of your problems you may develop on your Mac.
The other great idiot's non-troubleshooting technique is a restart. If you're having trouble, system's running slow, restart. This should be a pretty rare occurrence. I restart my laptop every couple of months, and usually just because a software update requires it.
Gus, this closing a window vs. quitting an application is one of the big differences between Mac and Windows, and is a hard habit for new switchers to master. They close the window thinking that they've closed the application, but it's still open. You'll get the hang of it.

1) Yes, more RAM. The 4GB kit at crucial is $200--why not?
2) DxO has a lot to offer. I would add PS to LR first, though. There are a ton of non-photo related 3rd party apps recommended in this thread. As for photo apps, LR/PS/DxO should do you well for a bit, I'd say.
The post regarding 3rd party apps I was looking for was one that you posted a few weeks ago. I found in this thread! I will search around and see what else I can find.
One app I used a lot in Windows world was Roboform. It's a single source for encrypting your passwords and personal information to automate logins and form filling. Very useful. I found one similar for the Mac, 1Password. While it has the same basic functionality, it's not quite as user friendly as Roboform.
So far the Macbook has been a surprise. When considering my purchase, I was set to buy the MBP. Then they introduced an update to the MB. The rep at the Apple store said he uses LR on an older MB, and said it runs a little slow, but fine for his needs. I've found it to be very acceptable thus far. We'll see what happens when I have LR, Firefox, and other apps running at the same time. If it's too slow, I'll buy a MBP when they are updated next year.

Huh. My cards max out at 2GB, and I've never thought once about what kind of reader I get, other than do I like the way it looks and is it USB 2.0.

What is different is Firewire. I'd say Firewire is 40%-50% faster than USB. If you can get a Firewire card reader, I'd recommend it.
