Keeping my toes warm
It's not particularly warm of course at this time of year, and at 4 in the afternoon with no sunshine, weak as it is behind the thick cloud cover the temperature had fallen appreciably. So this little inch long milliipede was just keeping it's toes warm. (Focus point is on the feet themselves). C&C as always allowed. Exif:… -
Winter Photography
Finally getting the time to rummage through some older images, these have been "on file" for quite some time but, I thought worth sharing. Capturing the Aurora shots I seek are best achieved during the winter months. The dead of winter, new moon, clear sky, no wind. These images are from my Aurora shoot in Bettles, Alaska… -
Can I Mount My SB600 To The Non-Justin 175 Manfrotto Clamp?
I have the ~$54 Justin Clamp / 175F and use it along with a Joby Gorillapod to mount my SB600's just about anywhere. I've found that I want another clamp, but think I could get by without the ballhead, which seems to be the expensive part since there is a ~$35+ difference in the regular no-ballhead 175 clamp and the 175F… -
Mack lens repair dilemma
Hi All, I have recently received my lens back from repair by Mack. It is a Zuiko 14-54 f2.8 with a bh price of $424. The aperature stopped working and they replaced the diaphram and it is working fine now. My problem is that the inside of the lens has a lot of dust now. It has noticably affected image quality. I have heard… -
Sunday Morning Stroll
This morning we went out to enjoy the nature park "De Meinweg". This park has a diverse vegetation, exisiting of woods and open spaces, much of which is covered with the heather plants that are currently in blossom. It's too bad that we overslept, and the sun was already a bit high in the sky (you could already feel the… -

Re: The LEICA D VARIO-ELMARIT 14-50mm/F2.8-3.5 ASPH.
Hi Seneca Ziggy's correct about the leica D14-50 - its 4/3rd only, so if you had an Olympus E series DSLR you'd be ok to use it - although you won;t be able to use the aperture ring or get Mode 2 IS (only Mode 1 which is on all the time or off). I'm planning on getting the Leica D for my E1 - from what I've seen its shaper… -
Re: maple syrple time!
Sap and snouts Even I've help tap some maple trees after the bitter cold winter of 75-76 (I felt -54 degF in Wausau, WI and that wasn't EVEN the coldest reading). No funky lids on the buckets, though--the COWS didn't mind that one bit as they dove right in with their snotty snouts! Word to the wise: if you see maple syrup… -
Re: Black Canyon - Colorado River
Thanks Aaron- It was a very good trip and we plan to hit that canyon again. It is about the same distance for you as it was for me if I am not mistaken. 'Crocket' was equipped with some nice gear. I believe that is his 40D with the 100-400 with IS. He also had his 20D with the 10-22 I had my Oly E-500 with the 50-200 f2.8…
