Re: Congratulations kdotaylor for the DSS #92 (optical illusion) Winning Photo!
I was looking for the round to be announced in a new thread just like the regular challenges, I guess. I'm not sure how they work since it's been a long time since I've done the one Mega challenge. Is it ok for me to participate in the DSS 93 if I qualified for the next Mega challenge? I see on that page you linked this… -
Re: LCD's viewsonic, Dell or what
Forgot about NEC First of all you gotta stick with S-IPS. Secondly if you want to be able to do extensive color calibration I would look at a display where you can calibrate the internal LUT of the monitor. Take a look at the NEC LCD2490WUXi-BK and LCD2690WUXi-BK. Both of these units have 12 bit LUT with gamma correction,… -
DSS #93 (Old or New) C&C welcome
I was on vacation during the Christmas and New Year holidays, and today was my first day back to work. Lo and behold this is what welcomed me when I went into the office this morning. I'm overwintering an ornamental pepper plant in my office, and it bloomed for me! :) btw, the real size of that flower is about as big as… -

Technically:* position your subject in a way that the most important part of it is very close, and the rest is furhter away. * use WA (Wide… -
Re: Something is going on...
We can't send email out on unforeseen hardware problems, I'm so sorry :( We had an issue, our Operations team went into scramble mode, and got things handled around 215am CA time. We're sorry about the issue. http://status.blogs.smugmug.com/2010/08/01/site-issue-%E2%80%93-080110/ Then at 315am CA time we had to do another… -
Re: Almost Ski Race Season here on Mt Hood - Some favorites from last year...
All good but first 4 are fantastic. Always sunny on the Oregon slopes! Yeah right! I moved from Portland to Phoenix in '06. One project I enjoyed back in '93 was building the Cascade Express lift that replaced Texas, if you've skied long enough to remember that one. Meadows' first detachable quad. Snowmobiles through July… -
DSS 93 - Old Friends, Best Friends (47+ years)
Did another photo shoot today with neighbors who are about to celebrate their 47th wedding anniversary. It would be great to have your input on these shots and my tentative titles. As an aside, the husband joked that he had "always wanted to be a hand model" - thinking back to the Seinfeld episode.... Possible Titles:… -
No Record of Item on USPS
Doh! Its me again causing problems and making issues. :) I ordered some photo's recently so that I can have them in a Jan 2nd show and I am still hoping they come soon. I got the email from Smugmug saying they are on their way 12/21 and I went to look for them on USPS and it says "Label/Receipt Number: 9101 1321 3879 8012…
